Patch Replacer On-Screen Controls not showing

Subject: [Bug Report] Patch Replacer On-Screen Controls not showing after reopening project – Resolve 20 Public Beta 3 (macOS 14.4.1)

Hi,

I'm using DaVinci Resolve Studio 20 Public Beta 3 on macOS Sonoma 14.4.1 (MacBook Pro M2).
I've encountered a repeatable issue with the Patch Replacer effect in the Color page.

When I first applied Patch Replacer to a node, the Source and Target on-screen controls (circular handles) appeared correctly in the Viewer. I was able to set positions and track using FX mode.

However, after saving and later reopening the project to edit the same Patch Replacer node, the on-screen controls no longer appear — even though:

- “On-Screen Controls” is set to “Show” in the Inspector
- The correct node is selected
- Source and Target position values are present and editable
- “Display Overlay” is enabled in the Viewer
- FX Tracker data is still visible and editable
- Restarting Resolve does not fix it

I’ve also tried creating a new Patch Replacer node, but the circular handles do not appear there either.
This issue seems specific to Resolve 20 Beta — the same workflow behaves normally in Resolve 19.

Is this a known issue, or is there a workaround to restore the on-screen controls?

I can't duplicate this. Everything is working normally in Studio 20b3 for Windows.

If I recall path replacer has three options for on screen controls. off, auto hide, always show or something like that. Make sure always show is turned on. Or whichever the proper name for the button is.

Can't replicate here with MBP M1 running Resolve 20 Public Beta 3 (macOS 14.7.5) ... applying Patch Replacer effect in the Color page all controls are visible as expected when when 'Open FX Overlay' is enabled in the Viewer and On-Screen Controls is set to 'Show' in the Inspector; after saving, closing and reopening the project, all controls are once again visible, as expected (when 'Open FX Overlay' is enabled and On-Screen Controls is set to 'Show').

The patch replacer does not work on my M3 MBP projects created with version 20 (not beta).
I have used it for many years to hide a spot on the wall.
Recently With Resolve 19 I tried using Depth Map to hopefully allow it to work better, since when the Speaker rolls his chair in front of the hidden spot (using Patch Replacer), it would flare out as the replaced spot was covered by the chair. In the beginning it worked a bit.

Naturally I was hoping it would not be as noticeable with the new version Resolve 20. It was tiny bit better at first, smaller, but all of a sudden the Patch Replacer stopped working. I have tried restarting and and creating a new PATCH, but to no avail. Patch Replacer no longer works properly.

Any ideas

Seems to work fine on my MacBook. I wonder what could be happening on your system.

Do you have open fx overlay turned on?

I just checked, and Patch Replacer is working fine for me on Resolve 20.0 (final) on an M4 Max MacBook Pro under Sequoia 15.5:



I do have the On-Screen Controls set to "Show," which is how I usually run Patch Replacer.
