Separate sub-forum for bug reports

PostThu Jun 12, 2025 5:45 am

Why isn't there a separate sub-forum for bug reports? Right now, reporting a bug doesn't really fit in "Davinci Resolve Feature Requests". And posting bug reports in the "Davinci Resolve" general area sees the bug report fighting for attention among the mass of general discussion.

I agree in principle, but the reality is that it's difficult for many people to differentiate if something is a feature request or a genuine "bug" report. Having a separate Bug Reports forum would make things worse, because people who perceive the lack of a feature to be an actual "bug" will post their feature requests in the "Bug Reports" forum instead, which is a totally inappropriate use of a bug-report/issues forum.

Even though I think a phpBB message board is a terrible way to track issues, and wish BMD had a proper issues-tracking system like on Github, I also understand that most normal users are more comfortable using a regular "message board" system, and I trust that BMD has some sort of system figured out on their end to parse through all of the forum posts and separating feature requests from true bug reports.

That said, I do think there needs to be a separate forum for Scripting/API related questions.

Because that's pretty much what the main Resolve forum is for.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

+1 IMO the main forum should be much more general Q&A whereas bug reports and feature requests are their own specific beasts.

Based on that logic I think we need a "User Issues" subforum.
So many bug reports are user error or unfamiliarity with resolve so it will still be a mess.
Nice intention but I doubt users will be disciplined enough to post in the appropriate forum.
