No Desktop Video Device Connected

PostWed Jun 11, 2025 4:41 pm

Everything has been working fine until recently, and now The Desktop video software / drivers do not seem to communicate to UltraStudio 3G.

M1 MacBook Air
Mac OS 15.5
Desktop Video 14.5

The 3G has power and the system sees the UltraStudio 3G fine, so we know the "hardware" connection is fine.
Never the less:
I have tried two different UltraStudio 3G's.
I have swapped cables and connected directly to the laptop.

Software wise:
Multiple Uninstalls and re-installs, double-checked log-in items and extensions and made sure the switches were all on as needed.
Tested a new user.

Honesty I'm not sure if this fell of the rails after the Mac OS 15.5 update, and I just did not notice until now.

Same problem here. Decklink Quad in Sonnet enclosure, connected to M1 Max via Thuderbolt. Worked fine today, until updating to 14.5. Now, suddenly, Desktop Video says there are no connected devices. What gives?

FWIW, I found a solution. You need to enable the Blackmagic "Driver Extension" in addition to the "Camera Extension" in System Settings. For some reason, the driver extension wasn't enabled after install. Click the "Informaiton" icon next to the Driver Extension item in the list (see attached screenshot) and toggle the Blackmagic item on. That did the trick for me.

I double checked that, and I keep finding the "camera extension" un-checked, then Id have to re-check it again and finally it stayed checked and it worked again. This is behavior I never saw before the last Mac OS update.

The desktop video software has not been updated since February of this year either. I suspect this will clear up with some software update at some point.
