Tried to sort, but timeline does not appear sorted

PostSun Jun 15, 2025 5:41 am

I wanted to list the clips in order of their names on the timeline, so I first sorted them by clip name on the edit page and sorted them from 1 to 10.
And then when I throw them into the timeline, they are not listed in order, and the clips at the very front and somewhere in the middle are swapped, so they appear on the timeline without being sorted in order.
I remember that this issue did not exist until version 19, so how can I fix it?

I am using Mac Studio M2 Ultra
and Davinci Resolve 20 Studio version (the latest official version/not beta).

I will attach a photo.

After sorting and putting it on the timeline, here is the result. It's different.

Assuming you are dragging them from the media pool to your timeline, first select the clips you want, then sort them by name (or whatever method you want) by clicking the column header. They will still be selected. Now you can drag them to the timeline and they will maintain their order. This extra step of having to click the column header to commit the sort order wasn't necessary before but it would seem that Resolve gets confused as to the actual sort order between pages.

If you try this, please report back. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for your answer.

I got the same result with the way you told me.

But with an interesting behavior, I was able to get it without any problem.

Before, when I sorted and got it, I could drag it anywhere in the selected list and it worked fine, but now I just noticed that after sorting in the column, it has to grab the first clip even after all is selected. Somehow, I thought there was no rule, but this is the rule. The previous version's behavior is more convenient.

I will attach a picture as well.

If you drag and pull from the 70 side, it is confirmed that the number 70 clip comes first and is arranged in order.

Correct. The clip among the group that you "grab" will always be the first one added. So...always "grab" the first clip. ;)

You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
