Davinci Resolve 20 won't open after loading phase

PostSun Jun 15, 2025 10:29 pm

DaVinci Resolve won't open after the loading phase. The program just shuts down. I’ve tried updating my graphics drivers to the latest version, added the program to my antivirus allowlist, and also tried running it as an administrator, but nothing has worked. The strange part is that everything was working fine before I did a complete reset of my computer. Ever since then, the program hasn't worked like it did before.

Go to Windows Control Panel/Programs and Features. If DaVinci Resolve Control Panels is there click on it and uninstall it. Now does Resolve start. If you have Topaz OFX plugin installed that can also stop Resolve running.

I don't recall the specifics, but folks are reporting issues when using VPN's as well.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows Desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open the Windows System Information app and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here. Make sure the links don't require access credentials.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

Hi everybody,

I have a licence key and I was using the Resolve 20 Beta. I updated the latest version and the software crashed while opening. I'm not able to use Resolve at the moment.

Could someone help me please?

You can find my logs here. https://we.tl/t-loP0n5hIUr

Your Topaz OFX plugin is crashing Resolve.

In File Explorer, go to this folder:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins

In that folder will be a Topaz related folder or folders. Delete or move that folder or folders out of the Plugins folder, which will prevent Resolve from trying to load the Topaz OFX plugins.

Stand alone Topaz should still work properly. At least, that's what others have reported.
