Resolve Studio keeps failing to render .mov transitions

PostWed Jun 25, 2025 11:24 pm

I am trying to export a project but I keep constantly being given this error message at random sometimes. Like there's 7 .mov extension based transitions with alpha channel. No, they're not inaccessible, they are on my drive and right clicking the media bin and clicking on "Open file location" takes me precisely there. Yet, Resolve keeps failing to do this.

My 10th attempt is above. Do I just have to re-encode all this into a different format and then make it .mp4 container? What's the deal here?

What's your hardware and GPU driver?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Guys, I found what's up with this, though not the why of it. My export attempt was in h265. The moment I chose H264, it worked flawlessly and exported just fine. My GPU driver is 580.76 Studio and running an intel i5 12600KF with RTX 4070 SUPER and 32 gigs of RAM. I think I am good for now, though there is still that question of why it wouldn't work with h265.

Are you able to Cache the Grunge clip?

No. I think I am good for now, it may really be the reason that the response above said. I just switched to h264 and ditched h265 for this one.

For playback. This thread is about encoding, which works fine on Windows from Resolve, except in the OPs case where it gives an error with a specific clip it doesn’t seem to like.
