F5 does look interesting. Looks aimed at the scarlet end of the range rather than the BMCC though.

Should be a great camera for those with that kind of budget. Does look like they've looked at all the features that seem to be selling cameras.

Yes but I think the price will match the price of the Scarlet come tomorrow's RED announcement. BUT that will be the bare bones price. The Lens, Viewfinder, RAW recorder etc will all be added costs.

The info we have is that RED have managed to cut down the cost of making the Epic at least and as such they are cutting the price of their range, to be announced in the next few days (both 1st Nov and 31st Oct have been mentioned.)

Red boards are full of speculations, many of which are as entertaining as this thread.

To my knowledge none of these items can be used. Not even the LCD Touch.

Cheers

Please re-read or maybe my English is bad.
"All but RED specific items such as...." maybe better?
I could have listed what does work with BMCC.
Example:
Sachtler FBS-8
Edelkrone FollowPlus+
Wooden Camera Shoulder Rig
etc....too much to list sorry :)

There Is an epic brain for 11k prediction though. With the store credit to make up the price drop for recent purchases that would be a fair chunk of goodies even at red accessory prices.

I can only assume that means that the poster believes RED have perfected alchemy, and no longer need to cover any costs.

I havent got my head into the whole pricing debate since Im only concerned about the Scarlet.
However, I will put my two cents in and say that the drop isnt as crazy as everything hopes/fears.
Ill go with a measly 5K to 8K drop.

CVP has took delivery of its first customer destined BMC. Its gone to Andrew Reid of EOSHD :o

Apparently he was suppose to be number 7 and there are people ahead of him who did NOT get theirs. Can someone confirm this :?:

This was my main worry when I found out about limited shipping, that the few cameras that arrive would go to 'important customers' rather than following the pre order list religiously.

I really hope this is not the case

That would be disappointing, I can't think that it is true as CVP generally have a very good reputation. Having said that they are a business and I imagine he is one of their best customers...

I completely agree with CVP's reputation, and it is in no way an accusation, I just feel that at this stage of the game everyone is acutely aware at which number in the list they fall, I don't think the number 9 has ever etched itself into my conciousness so much as it has over the last few weeks! I keep seeing it everywhere! :D

I should stop looking at footage from the BMCC when my I've only got a DSLR to shoot with.

I was told i was number 37 at CVP, so have a long wait, but if it turns out that people who they believe are more important receive theirs first, without honouring preorder queues, then ill seriously consider cancelling, and moving onto something else camera wise. Integrity is everything, and this is starting to become ugly.

Morning folks, hope you're all well and having a nice week!

Our sincerest apologies for any confusion caused with regards to the recent allocation of our first BMD EF Cinema Camera.

Andrew Reid placed the first pre-order for the Blackmagic Cinema Camera.

The confusion arises from the fact that we transact on-line and also take telephone orders and these are both processed on separate systems up until the point of entry into our accounting system.

There can therefore be a time differential between order placement and the "data push" into the accounting system as all orders are processed manually to a certain extent. This means that on occasion when comparing two orders an order with an earlier time-stamp on our accounting system may have in reality been placed later than shown and after what at a cursory glance appear to be subsequent orders.

In order to be fairest with allocation of the Blackmagic Cinema Camera we compared the actual time stamp on both our website and accounting system. Whilst Andrew Reid's order showed as no.7 on the accounting system it was actually placed first.

If anyone has any queries or questions at all - then please do not hesitate to call/email us (or leave us a message below and we can contact you when suitable) and we'll do our utmost to help resolve any queries we can.

Many thanks & all the best

There are some very exciting new cameras being announced lately! I think if I had the $$ I might go for a Sony F5 package! But to be honest I am still really excited about the BMCC!! I just love the image from it! The versatility and range of shooting raw.. plus the efficiency of shooting proresHQ is awesome!
Like everyone else, I'm very eager to get my camera, and frustrated with the delays.. But I honestly believe BMD is doing their very best to resolve (hehe) the issues and working hard to get the cameras out the door.. hopefully production will ramp up soon. Unless Sony announces a price point close to the BMCC.. I'll still be waiting for that shipping notice for my BMCC!!

This is a case of industrial sabotage! The big players have plants inside the sensor manufacturer (and I don't mean the hibiscus in the loby). They are here...They are among us...They are keeping us from our BMCs.

I think that if everybody listen again carefully what Grant Petty said in an interview held on August 23rd, it will be clear why the camera is still not out in massive numbers, but in small numbers and to specific professionals. Checkout the video and listen from 9:55 and after.

So it appears CVP has 2 lists. Contrary to what they told customers were they are in the pre-order list this can all change because their system tells them otherwise. Does Andrew Ried know he is numer 1 on their list because I doubt it or he not told anyone.
Does that mean we can disregard what CVP has told us?

I really hope BMD sees this and takes note of how to properly communicate with a customer. Sometimes this happen and there are issues but as long as they communicate, most of us will be perfectly fine. It is much better than the standard BMD comment of, "we will have more information for you in a few weeks."

I think CVP should inform everyone of to what their actual number in the queue is, not the made up ones they have been using, to resolve the confusion.

As a fellow CVP customer with a preorder and having been told many different conflicting figures for my position in the queue, I would also like this to happen. Especially considering I knew of several people lower down than me who cancelled their preorder and yet my position actually got worse.

I'm confused again. What good is it to know what position you have in the order line sans shipping numbers from BMD? I'm number 8 at my reseller (at least that's what they told me last time I called) but I won't know how many cameras they get from BMD or when. I'll only have what they choose to tell me to go on. Knowing my luck, they will say they got seven shipped and not mention the three in store demos and the one that went to the owner's son.

Just for the record.
CVP did not post because they felt obliged as a good reseller. They did so after I complained and told them a little bit about whats been going on and about the other reseller and ebay incident.
If I didnt complained you might not have heard a jot from them posting in here.

I was in line at B&H with a late August pre-paid order. I figured there were a LOT of people ahead of me.. so I canceled my order with B&H and now I'm number 3 in line at ADK.. I'm not sure if that was a good move.. but I feel a lot better being 3rd in line than way.. way back in line at B&H.

For me its to do with honesty. Most of us where given a number from CVP, which seems now not to be the case, so for me, its do with if the company thats getting my cash is straight down the middle or not, as if not, id rather purchase either something else or somewhere else, with a company where my order is honoured along with the information pertaining to it.

Wow a few months ago when I was deep into this I said, this cant get any worse.
Well it did.
This feeding frenzy is getting crazy and the bleeding has to stop.
If it was all possible, BMD should just make an official statement that they wont be released till after <insert date>.
But I doubt that would change anything after all this :(

I need to post this as I am a fan of CVP.

To be honest I have found CVP very honest. Their staff have even told me how annoyed they are at the lack of information from BMD. They have been put in a very bad place here. They were told to accept pre-orders from BMD and they did. I believe them when they tell me my position in the queue and I have no reason to doubt them.

An example... I remember when I had confusion over a talkback system I was buying... I don't think it was either of our faults just miscommunication on both ends. I didn't receive a transmitter as part of the system (it actually wasn't part of the system) and complained. Do you know what they did? They apologised and sent me one for free. The device was worth £100+ but I got it for nothing as they valued my custom.

That is a company I want to do business with. CVP are a top company, trust me! They do however take time to get back to you, but that's only because they are so busy.

I appreciate the helpful comments of many on this forum and thank BMD for hosting this forum.

I respect the right of everyone here to express their own views. In my opinion, there are a minority on this forum who have done a majority of the complaining and whining, often simply repeating the same complaints and otherwise making totally useless posts. This diminishes the value of this forum to me.

My post is sure to cause these same people to make more useless posts. That's fine with me, as I have recently added several members to my "foe" list. I encourage others to do the same rather than trying to reason with these people. If you find, as I have, that certain users of this forum continue to make worthless posts and you want to ignore them, simply go to the "User Control Panel" and manage your friend/foe list.

Also, this is a plea, not to those offending users, but to the level-headed users here, to not quote these people, as this undermines my foe list. Thank you.

I hope that this will help me to weed through the less-than-constructive elements of this site and perhaps alert those who are also frustrated to the existence of the foe list, if you didn't know about it already.

I look forward to reading more about shipping updates.

As frustrating as all these set backs may seem at least we know that things are being dealt with in the fact that we will be receiving a polished camera. It's human instinct to be impatient, but guarantee many of you will forget all this even happend once that camera is sitting in your hands... heck I bet you will even be sharing your beautiful footage then complimenting rather then complaining.

Lets take this matter professionally... we know they're not crooks. They just want to give us what we deserve and not a half fast failing piece of equipment.

I'd just like to echo the posts on here praising CVP as a company. In my dealings with them, they've always fallen over themselves to help, support, advise, price match, and generally aid me in my kit acquisition. They are so much more than box shufflers!
I have been buying from them for nearly 15 years, and I very much hope they take that into consideration when they bump me up the pre-order queue. ;) :D

I jest of course - as I've mentioned before, the BMCC will be worth the wait whenever it arrives :D

Good Afternoon all,

I know that it's very frustrating waiting in a virtual queue for your Blackmagic Cinema Camera, and that this frustration is amplified by the fact that initial deliveries were 'promised' for July and it's now almost November.

If any CVP customers would like to know the current status or have any queries regarding their order - please simply contact us directly on 01527 854222 and we will happily advise.

At present we can only confirm when your order was placed with us and where your order is currently situated in our pre-order queue.

We unfortunately cannot offer any confirmed or estimated dispatch dates until we receive that information from Blackmagic and we are of course pressing for further stock allocation and information on a continual basis.

As soon as we have more detailed and confirmed delivery information then we will of course notify the relevant customers.

In the meantime please be assured that we are and will continue to fulfil orders in order of placement and the satisfaction of each and every customer of ours is of paramount importance.

Well lets hope CVP honour their obligation. However on this occassion their standard took a knock. They told customer a pre-order list that is worthless and tainted with suspicion. A big negative to the company on this one I have to say.

I missed a call from Dave at CVP, will try to catch up with them tomorrow, as i am busy coaching Kickboxing tonight and taking my son out for Halloween. It was good of them to call, and restores some faith in them, as at least they are reaching out to resolve and clarify. That can only be a good thing.

It seems always more likely that the MFT version will shipp at the same time as the EF version.
I ordered in may and payed in june, nothing yet.
I decidet to stick to the EF version instead of switching to MFT as I thought it would ship sooner, although I own only NIKKORS and PL lenses, but I had in mind to cutt of the mount anyway and replace it with an IMS mount.
If both cameras ship at the same time I would ovviously switch to the MFT version, as I could avoid changing the camera. Would be nice to have an update on this at least.
Shipping at the same time I mean regular shipping, as I don't think I will get one of the limited shippings anyway.

An other question to BMD, could you allow the full version download of davinciResolve9 to those who have already payed the camera? I know you haven't the money yet, but the resellers have, but some off us haven't the mony either and it is not really the resellers fault.
Davinci Resolve 9 was on big reason why I bought the camera anyway, as I would need it for my Ikonoskop.
Maybe by sending a scan of the invoice and payment to you, you could allow a fullversion download?

Im trying to find answers on using PL lenses with the BMCC.
Is it an easier step to EF or MFT?
I have access to a PL to Canon mount and would like to try it in the distant future.
Notice distant :)

I know in this thread emotions run high sometime and we get each other nerves. But I will make sure to add you to my "don't piss off" list after your comments you will be coaching Kickboxing.

Any news on the RED thingy - new pricing, probably still out of my range, but still fun for a info-junkie like me ;)
