Any news on the RED thingy - new pricing, probably still out of my range, but still fun for a info-junkie like me ;)

I think that update from BMD will be in tandem with the RED announcement IF the RED announcement is really what it's cracked up to be. If there is an announcement from
The BMD camp it'll be the same thing though: shipped some cameras, did some sensor testing, more updates coming later. Sorry. Wish it was more.

Personally I hope the RED announcement is a good one, I don't think it's going to be though

More RED Scarlet brain down to $3500 tomorrow rumors, eh? You still need another ~$5000 in peripherals to make the thing work. Good luck with that.

Interesting how RED timed their price decrease with the Sony announcement. The F5 and F55 must have them thinking about the future. I still find it hard to believe they haven't released a firmware upgrade that allows a full-frame sensor capture at 2K instead of a crop. I guess that's why Alexa is taking over television production.

Aaaaall this is why the BMCC delay does not bother me. Waiting a few months? Try a few YEARS for the RED One. I think JB mentioned some of his crew waiting several months, or, that he's still waiting for a few extra parts from RED. And that's because it's factory-direct. All the peeps complaining here got snookered by the resellers, not BM! Never pre-order, unless it's a video game and you're getting some exclusive DLC deathmatch maps and a T-shirt! :D

The only RED I'm actually very excited about is the Epic-M Monochrome. No kidding. I'm a Kodak T-Max 400 kinda guy. Used to leave the high school newspaper department's darkroom smelling like fixer. Mmm-mmm ammonium thiosulfa-awesome!

Remember back in 2006 when you had to reserve the One with a $1000 deposit? The first cameras didn't start coming until 2007, but I seem to remember maybe about 25 or so only surfaced. Remember how a lot of those pre-orders didn't get fulfilled until the end of 2008 once things finally got going? I do. Remember how the Scarlet was one of the first cameras they announced and that it would be a sub $5000 DSLR killer back in 2007. It finally got here in 2011 and, ya know, was $15000. So, here we are. In April BMD announces their first camera. Seven months later, hissy fits from the DSLRers looking to upgrade. First time I used a RED One, the owner/DIT was telling me his little horror story of waiting about a year and some months for the brain to show up. I believe he told me that he had received the peripherals weeks before the brain arrived. Of course, it paid for itself in about 3 months, but, ya know...the point is, I know a lot of guys that can tell you about waiting.

i remember the red story as i was really following its progress.
there it seemed that people did have politeness to wait nicely.

here some people get angry all the time. i do not see why.
if it takes time then it takes time. it is not something that do not let you
breathe or make you starve.

it is really important to have strong inner zen and not to go allover when something
do not work out as "planned". i see it on other fields a lot that things will change
and you can be at ease on some matters when you have them on hand. that is life
specially with complicated stuff like engineering.

secondly it seems that people have ton of time at hand to hang out on forums daily
to rant, like having nothing to do. maybe it is false feeling i'm getting but i see
if i have really a lot to do there is no way i can go over many forums daily.
i spend it on sleeping :)

Dear Christine,

I promise you I was only kidding when I said I would give RED's announcement a look today, it was just "guy talk" among my drinking friends. You know I only have eyes for BMCC! Please trow me a bone and tell me how many days before Grants next announcement. Please tell Grant that whether his next announcement is 1 or 10 paragraph long, he will have me at "and the QTY is....."

I know you can not talk, but if you could...... tap once for yes and tap twice for no.

Additionally if you could:

- once, wait 2 sec tap twice, wait 3 sec tap once : for 25 BMCC shipping a week
- twice, wait 2 sec tap twice, wait 3 sec tap once : for 50 BMCC shipping a week
- once, wait 2 sec tap once, wait 3 sec tap once : for 100 BMCC shipping a week
- tap uncontrollable for 10 sec: 1000 BMCC shipping a week

Reminds me of Breaking Bad.

Hahah that's awesome. So are you feeling like me? I'd feel a lot better if I knew my BMCC was on it's way or if I already had it, but those RED prices are really tempting. It just makes it harder not knowing when I'm getting my BMCC. I'm not asking BMD to release numbers, take pictures, etc, merely just stating how I feel. I was rooting for the BMCC big time, but not knowing when I'm getting it, or thinking that it might be next year before I get it, is just killing me. I'm ready to upgrade, been with my cam for a while now, but I really like what the BMCC is offering. I'll wait a few more weeks, maybe until the middle of the month, and see where we're at.
