At 3:50, they admit the BM4K users are beta testers.

No they don't.

"we've gotten a lot of great feedback about that sensor" is what they say.

I have to agree with Tom on this one. They don't admit we are beta-testers.

But, i can't believe she was able to say, "we've gotten a lot of great feedback about that sensor" with a straight face.

Does BMD hold classes on how to lie straight to someones face and make them believe you are telling the truth?

They have gotten some good feedback about the sensor, but a lot, well we know that's a lie.

I know some of you guys are jaded now having issues with FPN, but not every camera is like that. Here's a frame from my 4K camera that I feel looks great. I don't see a horrible fixed pattern noise and I love the image I see. And browsing around on Twitter shows a ton of people with this camera that are shooting and having the same experience.

You have to read it right!

A lot of great feedback. Doesn't mean that the feedback says "the camera is great", it only means that the feedback itself is great - and indeed: isn't it great to get detailed reports about the cameras performance under real world conditions? Other companies have to pay a team of testers to think up silly tests in thought-to-be-lifelike conditions, but BMD can have the best critics not only for free, no, even better, those beta testers even pay for it! Crowdsourcing, i believe it is called.

I was at Cinegear, I talked to a few of the Blackmagic Employees about the URSA and the issues with the BM4K, they were completely honest and very up front about the issues that have been experienced by users.

They told me the BM4K's FPN issue is primarily from the sensor overheating, and they were very up front and honest about everything with me (they fixed that issue in the URSA by using liquid cooling, and AJA has a much larger heatsink + airflow on their cameras - hence their form factor).

The issue could be fixed by firmware, but it's not an easy fix by any means - the solutions to the problem engineering-wise generally cause other less-easily solved problems (increase fanspeed=louder fan, increase ventilation=open the internals to more wear & tear, liquid cooling=weight/form factor increase, larger heatsink=form factor increase).

I really don't think the issues ya'll are experiencing with the BM4K are really not as widespread as it seems on the forums, part of the issue that you're venting your frustrations here rather than reporting your problems to the actual manufacturer (this is a USER forum not a SUPPORT forum) or even attempting some level of problem solving yourself (I've put Ice Packs on a RED One before to keep it from crashing, there are masks out there for people to get rid of FPN etc.).

I've seen at least 6-7 BM4Ks operating perfectly, and I just talked to another owner today that I'm AC'ing for Tomorrow and Sunday who's shooting a BM4K camera.

So I just shot on the (1stAC+DMT'd for an operator/owner) BM4k yesterday, no Vmounts (battery plugged into wall for power) - full 12 hour shoot plugged in, rolling or on 10 hours straight (rig was minimal, Baseplate+Rails & a cheap Neewer follow focus).

No FPN (not even at 800ASA), No Weird glitches, no Black-Spot issues (DP exposed within 1/3rd stop couple of 2ks + some flourescents), shot on the Canon L 24-105 f4.

Images came out sharp and clear (though internal audio was useless, fine because we had 2xH4n's recording audio).

Despite the fact the battery never went above 10%, and was so hot that we had to wear gloves for handheld shots (and gloves whilst taking the SSD out), no problems.

So again, I really don't think the FPN issue is as prevalent in these cameras as the Forums here lead people to believe.

Please do not down play the FPN issue. Be glad you are one of the lucky ones. Some of us weren't as lucky and would like to have the same results as you. Please do not base your conclusion on one experience with one camera. There is plenty of footage online to say otherwise, plus almost 600 peopley who signed the petition including Philip Bloom and Cinema5D. Glad to hear of another "good" camera. I would love to see the footage you shot.

BMD has a lot of practical issues, oversights, and QC issues to address. I hope they do so promptly so as to restore the value of my BMPC. Even though I don't have FNP problems, I have not been able to rent my rig out due to the bad vibe floating out there.

I imagine Ursa sales will be very slow, which will be bad for their third and fourth quarter earnings.
