By the way, I found the video quality of your clip on YouTube looked fine as far as compressed streaming video goes.
It does make the FOV wider.. but because of the way it is designed, it cannot have a lens wider than about 24mm behind it, so that is not a real gain for it.
The real reason is two fold.
1. I like the look that anamorphic lenses give you. Bokeh, flares, etc.
2. it allows me to have a wider aspect for my film without losing resolution. If I wanted to have a wide aspect ratio without the anamorphic lens, I would have to just crop the top and bottom. This way, I can just squeeze the image down, and keep all that resolution.
