We have four of the first generation Pegasus' and they've been rock solid. We've had a couple of drives fail over the years - but Pegasus has always been fairly quick to replace under warranty.

Areca is rock solid and you can put any drive you want in it. Cheaper and better drives. Pegasus uses desktop class drives.

So, For the Areca is like 1800$ + 8 x 120$ = 2760$ for 24tb, while Pegasus R2 is 4000$

I figure there must be a difference, as the price is so different.
What about noise with Areca and disk speed ?

Would the Pegasus2 R4 be good? Or the G-Tech Studio 8GB Raid? I'm thinking of getting a raid system so I can have something I could use for 4k editing if I ever go that route in the near future, while also having something I can speed my editing, backup, and hold space for my Pocket's Raw files.
