Just received my BMCC a few days ago, also bought one of those RJ Turbo focal reducers and went around my town testing it out with the samyang 35mm cine.



I'm new to resolve and still have a lot to learn with it so I just kind of fluked the colouring process with a LUT and a few adjustments, criticism on what looks awful about it welcome I still need a lot of equipment, hence the abundance of tripod shots, but I got excited and just wanted to film! Also need to purchase some more nd's as a lot of the time I was having to completely close the aperture and sacrifice a fair bit of sharpness.

SYNOPSIS: In this 80s comedy, a high school student must return his principal's XXX rental by four o'clock in order to graduate.

After the world premiere at GenCon, we've released the first 8 minutes of Dark Dungeons (shot primarily on a BMCC) here:

Slow-motion scenes were shot on a RED Epic and a Nikon DSLR, and a few of the party scenes were Nikon as well, but the remainder of the shots were all BMCC, graded in Resolve. The full movie is available at darkdungeonsthemovie.com

Hey guys I just finished a short film using mainly the BMCC as my A cam and occasionally a canon t2i as a B cam! I shot most of this short when I first got the camera and wasn't exposing correctly so a lot was fixed in post in ProRes!
It would mean a lot if you guys gave it a watch! Its a long short but I think you might like it! I was 18 when I filmed most of this and I'm still learning a lot with LOG footage so dont judge the grading so harshly. I'm partially color blind so its a bit challenging to color all the shots the same!

Im still new to my BMPC and have started getting the lenses for it.
First I got a cheap old C/Y Sigma 28-70/2.8 that has proven to be great bang for the buck.
Next I wanted to replace my 24-105/4 that was really great on the BMCC but lacks in range and aperture on the production camera.
After seeing Kholis videos with the Tamron and adding my own positive experience with the Tamron 17-50/2.8 I went for it.

This is my first outing with it,

The older footage in the first half was captured with a Canon consumer grade video camera. A BMPCC was used for a couple shots, one shot with a Canon T2i, and the rest all with the BMCC. Blackmagic camera footage shot in RAW.

This is my third project; I'm very much among the beginner ranks. I do enjoy seeing what others are doing, learning techniques and so on, so here's one more.

My first outing with any Black Magic Camera. This was shot on the Pocket, and I am very very new to grading and color correcting. So please be kind. I need some practice, before I start doing pro stuff.

Some of the surf shots were shot on the Nikon D4 with 70-200mm lens.
Sound recorded with a Zoom H4n. We were on a tight budget and had to travel light.

p.s. I'm trying to arrange a full HD copy. Peter, the director, has only uploaded a 720p version at the moment.

Hi!, here it's my first Short Film using BMCC EF



- Sigma 18-35 f/1.8
- A nice rig on my shoulder (using just BMCC display, no external monitor nor EVF)
- Just available on location lights (no additional lights)
- RAW 2.5, ISO 800
- Graded and offline edit on Davinci Resolve 11, final edit on Premiere Pro CC
- No additional sharp in post and no noise reduction. Sadly vimeo 720 version doesn't show the amazing detail and the very little and nice organic noise of the original (at darker scenes). I've never thought that image will look that amazing on that very dark location an night. I think that BMCC is much better that all people think on dark scenes, Good Dynamic Range is more useful than higher sensitivity (ISO), BMCC has a perfect balance (DR/ISO/Noise) for a wide range of situations i think.

I am very happy with the results, love my BMCC

Decided to take my camera out and experiment and just play around

I've never gone out and shot around my hometown (even with my 5DMKIII, so it was a big learning curve for me being out in the open with a big rig). After seeing these clips played back, I love the city I live in



It's safe to say that this is the first time I'm really impressed with the footage that I got
I'm very self critical and I'm pleased as punch with the results!

I know that some of the clips are very bouncy, but unfortunately it was an incredibly windy day and I haven't the funds to get a decent tripod yet, so I'm having to use a very ******* ball mount tripod (rated for 2kg) and balance it carefully -- The rig weighs about 7kg in total, so I'm rather happy with how balanced I got it

Shot on Blackmagic Production Camera 4K, ProRes HQ, ISO 400, Canon 24-70mm 2.8/f L USM II with a Tiffen Hot Mirror, and changed between a Tiffen 0.9 ND and a Tiffen 1.8 ND depending on the shot

Edited and graded in DaVinci Resolve 11.1
Minor colour correction on the sunrise clips (one clip had a black sun removal). All other clips were left as is (Master LUT applied)

One Halloween Night

VFX breakdown

This video started out as an entry to one of those Halloween video contests last year. The kids wanted to "make a movie." I'm mainly corporate work so I wanted to try out a narrative type of project using blue screen, 3D animation, the Resolve / Premiere raw workflow, and learning Resolve and grading. Our first story we came up with was too ambitious as it was just me and the kids doing everything with some help from my wife. After awhile of working on it we were into October and could see that we would never finish it in time! So we decided to scrap the first project and did a last minute new story and and shot it over the weekend. Even then we were cutting things out as we were going! I wasn't able to finish the post in time for last year's Halloween though so I would work on it here and there to finish it up for this year.

I shot it on a BMCC EF in raw with my Tamaron 17-50 2.8 and 28-75 2.8. The very last shot was my GH2 because I couldn't get as wide as I wanted on the BMCC. I used After Effects and Mocha for effects and keying, Blender for the 3D, Resovle for grading using Captainhook's lut, Premier for editing and Audition for the 5.1 and stereo sound track.

This was my first time working with raw files, Resolve, and color grading. We had a lot of fun making it and it was a great learning experience. Some of the keys, effects, storyline, etc. could be better but overall I'm happy with how it turned out.

A new comedic short we filmed to help promote a Kickstarter.


These are some Dead Gentlemen characters who have not had any new content in ~8 years, so it was a lot of fun filming them. All shot in about 8 hours. The sound is awful, and we know it's awful.

I took my BMPCC to Cancun this past week and recorded some footage. This is sort of a test to get my feet wet and understand the color correction/grading in Davinci.

Life on the Teton Crest
A short film about our 5-day backpack on the Teton Crest in Wyoming. We entered and exited from the west and base-camped in both Alaska Basin and at Sunset Lake with day hikes up to Buck Mountain, the Wall and Hurricane Pass. Mother Nature threw everything she had at us, except snow. We had plenty of sunny skies, but also wind and T-storms ... it was totally awesome!

FERONIA
A short film based on a poem of the legendary hungarian poet Janus Pannonius.
The poem, written in 1458, is about Feronia, the muse and ancient goddess of health, wildlife and water. Her fountain, Fonte Feronia, still can be found today in the small italian city Narni. Like in the year of 1458 when it was visited by Janus Pannonius (and by many others since centuries before him), it is still visited by pilgrims from all over the world. The powers of this sacred and ancient place still enchant and cure the people who pay their respect at the magical water of this fountain.

I love the this camera! I am going to retire my Canon 7D for good and restricted it to family photos only! I shot a documentary over the summer with the 7D and now all of the footage seems so... DSLR! I used to love that

Anyway, I can't wait to get my hands on the URSA!

By dramatic, I'm hoping this implies a serious black comedy. Those are even more engaging than a simple romantic comedy. Best of luck!

Here's a night shoot, and I was really surprised with how little 'noise' was present at ISO 1600 @ 24 fps. The lens was a Nikon f/2, but in this shot it's set at f/2.8, and is about 40 years old... so shoot me... this is a 'uncorrected' 'Film' mode frame grab.

This was a 'stock shot' type of deal so it is pretty 'boring'...

Shot over the summer on the 4k. I was the DP, it was accepted into the jersey city international television and film festival.

Here's one film i worked on as a director, shot for quiet a nice budget :0 you will see..

shot on a blackmagic 4k pl mod. with a special build speedbooster, kind of sub pl. with kowa anamorphic primes.
With that speedbooster we could get the kowa's a little bit wider because they are ment to be used on 4 perf film or alexa 4:3 digital chip.
We still had to crop a awfull lot to get the 2.35 frame, but with 4k thats allright.
The good thing is that we stil retained the wide characteristics of the kowa 40mm (we had a lot of vignetting but that was being cropped a way on the wider parts..
Hope you guys love it.
