BMPC 29.97 SDI -> 59.94 interlaced?

PostThu Dec 11, 2014 8:33 am

I have a monitor that does not accept 29.97hz signals over HDMI. Is there a way for the BMPC to output an interlaced signal? If not, is there a cheap SDI->HDMI converter that will do this? I have seen specs that the Atomos Connect can, but it is not listed in their manual so I'm skeptical.

Hello Scott. You must be referring to the Pocket Camera. The HDMI output is only progressive on this camera.

No I am using the 4K camera. I meant to say SDI in my original post.

Hi Scott. Thanks for the clarification. The 4K camera does not have an interlaced output either. Only the Cinema Camera will do the interlaced (like Psf) output when overlays are turned off and when the frame rate is 59.94 or 50. The Television Studio camera also outputs a true interlaced signal. So to clarify, the Production Camera 4K and the Pocket Cinema Camera only output Progressive formats.

Hi Gary: If what you say is correct, please tell your tech writers to update page 11 in the Camera user manual ("Blackmagic Cameras Supported Video Formats"). The (mis)information there has confused people for many months. Cheers.
