Craigslist will be full of BMCCs once all the "cinematographers" dont sell one second of their awesome "Shot In RAW" footage and move on to the next thing (reminds me of the time I bought 2 5Ds for a song on CL, sold a music vid (with the price of the cameras built in), and then sold the cameras for a profit after the shoot!)

And to keep the thread relavent..
are the cameras shipping yet

@Dale! It was amazing my friend.. It really shows how I am feeling...

I really wonder that, maybe there is something wrong at the BMD headquarters.. Maybe someone (rival companies) left there some chemical weapons and couldn't been they all died. I am trying to find a excuse for them because there is nothing acceptable with that update delay. We don't our cameras, the updates are only things we have and they were gone! Oh my god I will start to crying... I have to go!

I'd also like to know if I'm not going to have to cancel and break my wallet because you can't manufacture a product in due course.

Honestly, it's less about when I'll get mine and more about not even knowing if we'll get them in the end. We don't know if you're waiting to confirm production is full steam ahead, or if production has once again halted.

Agreed Nick.. I'm at the point where I need to know if this camera is shipping or not..

Blackmagic Design, we really need to know what's going on. Are the sensors good and you've gone into full production? or are they still bad and are still shipping a few cameras at a time?

My reseller has no idea what to tell me at this point and they are thinking something very bad has happened with the camera. We all need to know where things stand with the BMCC.

Please understand. I love the idea of the BMCC.. it's a win-win camera in theory.. but for all but a few it's only a beautiful carrot being dangled in front of us all..

I bought and paid in full for your BMCC many many months ago... I want it to own and use a BMCC for my upcoming work, but if you can't deliver it.. Then I will have to find another camera..

If you are at full production.. I will wait..
but there is a limit to my patience and I'm very close to that limit.

I found a Canon EOS C300 for only $11K AUD which I can technically afford after selling my BMCC & bits, even though I would rather not!

Frustratingly expensive next option with a delivery time of only 3-7 work days? I do already trust/know Canon's DSLR still image quality and own most of the lenses I need. If Vincent Laforet's Mobius is any indicator of it's potential, then it's not a bad alternative, even if I'm starved of 10-bit 184mbps ProRes or 12-bit raw.

Reckon it took a while to get a batch of sensors through customs, always a pain to import stuff and then get it off the 'wharves'.....then they have been busily building and testing and are about to ship the first batch.

Grant seems to be the sort of person to tell people what he has done and not what he is gunna do.

Well that is how I see the situation....probably wishful thinking I suppose.

"Grant seems to be the sort of person to tell people what he has done and not what he is gunna do."

Possibly.

He also seems to the kind of person who is unwilling to communicate that "what he has done" bit.

It might be absolutely awesome

It might be nothing much has happened due to some issue or another

It might be somewhere in between

Either way - I've had two on pre-order since June with no end in sight to the waiting. Just really random communications from BMD.

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.
- Douglas Adams

In this case, that whooshing sound is the audible sigh of people feeling let down by BMD.

Yes says that for me as well, since it was set to November for months I guess they got two conflicting sets of news recently. Or they just sold out their December orders

Regardless it seems that BMD is updating the Vendors so we should hopefully have an update here shortly.

I'd buy it from you, but I kinda don't want to spend any more cash on BMCC accessories until we hear a more definite answer on shipping status. I'd be pretty pissed that I bought a ton of gear just to never use it/jump ship to another camera and be stuck trying to sell it again myself. That being said, the Viewfactor cage is an accessory on my list to get should I finally get a BMCC.

Same, June 8th for me. Slowly moving down the pre-order list as people cancel.

I think its only good manners to cancel your order when you reach the top of the list so that others might have a chance to get their cameras ;)

The lack of communication is a sign of disrespect from BMD to its customers. I don't care what the situation is. A reputable company should be transparent to its customers, especially those that have put money down and shown faith for MONTHS.

Let us be honest. If / WHEN Canon or another ESTABLISHED camera company announce a camera with these specs at even close this price point we would all jump ship. I personally would be prepared to pay $5,000 for a camera with exactly the same specs as the BMCC from a MORE ESTABLISHED camera company.

The worst thing about all this is that BMD staff are reading all these complaints and have not released a statement...

At this stage, I'd be deeply surprised if they're holding out on us with a positive update given how many people are canceling orders. It will only be when retailers stat canceling their orders from BMD that BMD really notice a drop in demand, however...

Undoubtedly something further has gone wrong and Grant is holding out on an update until they have something good to say. Apparently they're incapable of communicating bad news...

Well to be honest, this product will sell no matter what happens.
Its not a 10K and up product and low enough that masses will still purchase no matter what negativity it has faced.
I jumped ship last October and moved on but Im still going to buy one around NAB time.

Hi Chidi,

Probably posting against my better judgement, I would say that most companies would not have given more than a single blurb about the delay, and it wouldn't have been detailed. Most companies won't even acknowledge flaws in expensive hardware.

The newest Macbook Retinas had faulty screens depending on when you got them. They suffered from burn in, and Apple (mega corp here) didn't acknowledge it publicly at ALL. After so many complaints and returned laptops, they 'quietly' changed their panel supplier and most of the newest shipments are fine.

I'm a pretty broke/moneyless shooter, I had finally been able to grab a macbook retina in preparation for this camera and when I started reading Apple's own forums about the issue? Pretty terrifying!

But BMD has actually responded, the face of the company as a matter of fact, despite people being very rude and disrespectful to him in his own home (so to speak). I think they deserve a lot more credit and respect regardless of updates.

In the year 2014 when that happens, sure. But Canon has already shown you exactly what they think five thousand (six actually) dollars should buy. It's called a C100, and if you add an external recorder (Blackmagic has one! xD) then you can get sort-of C300 quality out of it.

But, even if one of these companies did decide to ship something at the three thousand dollar range with the exact same specs? Mnnn. I don't think you can count me in the "we would all jump ship" camp.

There's a lot more value in the camera than just what's on paper, and how much paper it costs. One major factor for me is Blackmagic's Color Science, and really the closest you're getting to such would be cameras costing 25K+.

I agree with John when he says that it took RED three versions of their own Color Science to get where they're at, and they STILL are not there yet. It took BMD once out of the gate, the V1, to nail it.

No, I don't have faith in CanoPanaSony to do any better than RED under the price tag of 25~30K, and so I'm glad that Blackmagic exists (granted in scarce amounts) and send as much hope and good will as possible that they can sort things out and ramp up.

If there's ever a V2 of the camera, I'll be there too!

The worst thing about all this is that BMD staff are reading all these complaints and have not released a statement...

xD Would you go out to address the wolves howling beyond your window without raw meat to feed them? I wouldn't!

We could be greatful for the delay! There is just 17 days left till the WORLD ENDS! I guess I will spend all my money on parties and girls instead of a camera!

Maybe BMD is listening to the Maya's and everybody went for a last holiday from their office. Their PR people post some "updates" from Bora Bora on a laptop to avoid world panic! I think this is a big conspiracy made by them!

Maybe if somehow I survive the apocalypse Im going to write a book about this (because I won't have a camera to tell the story in pictures). The title of the book could be: "The Black Magic Code" or "The Petty Conspiracy" or maybe "The silence of the wolves"

In the year 2014 when that happens, sure. But Canon has already shown you exactly what they think five thousand (six actually) dollars should buy. It's called a C100, and if you add an external recorder (Blackmagic has one! xD) then you can get sort-of C300 quality out of it.

C100 with external recorder will not deliver what you want the 8 bit Proress say's nothing about the quality or grading.
It's only the 10 bit or more that will help you further
8 bit proress will only help you for easy workflow nothing more ....
