Intensity Pro No Audio Input

PostFri Jan 30, 2015 9:46 pm

Hi,

I have an old Intensity Pro card in a Windows 8 box. It functions as a decent HDMI display and the audio out is working fine but I can't seem to get any ability to use the audio input.

The Microsoft Device settings show no inputs.
Adobe Audition device says no inputs are available for the black magic device
Blackmagic Media Express does not seem to see inputs either.

Any suggestions?

After making that post I went and installed the latest and rebooted. I can now see the Blackmagic Audio input in Adobe Audition but when I arm a track I still can't get anything on the meters.

In Media Express I see nothing on the meters either. I also don't see a way to change input in Media Express from say, HDMI in, to analogue in.

In Sony Vegas when I select Blackmagic ASIO as the device it greys out the input selection.

Under Windows Sound Card Settings it shows the Blackmagic Audio as as default playback and in the Recording Tab it now shows Blackmagic as the Line in but it also says it is "currently unavailable".

In order to make changes to the card settings you would need to go into the Blackmagic Control Panel.

I'm confused as to where to find the BlackMagic Control Panel? Are you referring to the what I can access through the windows control panel for the sound card settings?

I appreciate your help!

That's correct James. You can use the search feature and it should also come up.

In Win 8 I go into "Sound Card Settings" and Blackmagic Audio is my Default device.

I select "Recording" tab and "Line In, Blackmagic Audio has the green check mark beside it but it says "Currently unavailable".

If I go to properties for the Blackmagic line in Get 4 tabs of stuff:
Under "General" No Jack Information Available
Under "Listen" it is the default playback device and checked on the Listen to this device box.
"Levels" and "Advanced" don't seem to have anymore info.

Search for "Blackmagic Control Panel". The icon will look something like this. You will be able to adjust settings as long as the card is recognized by the system.

ahhh, found it but...

I change the input to one of the multiple choices with analog RCA and apply it but still cannot see any audio at the input meters in various software - Audition and Media Express are my two quick checks.

In the Blackmagic control panel the Audio Levels tab - all the options are greyed out.
In the Sound Card Settings under recording it still says Line in Blackmagic Audio is currently unavailable.

I'm confident I am applying audio signal to the rca inputs on the card...

You do only have one capture software open at a time correct? As far the connection to the card you may want to check the connection diagram just to be sure you have all the cables properly connected.

Tony I appreciate your attention to this matter! I'm sorry I didn't post earlier but I had to run home for the weekend. I tried to login at home but I had login issues. I tried to get the forum system to send me my password through the 'forgot password' link but it wouldn't send it. It said it did but it never arrived. I tried a few times. I think something is up there.

Anyway, I'm back trying to get the Intensity Pro to work. I've triple checked the wiring I have audio going to the rca inputs. I uninstalled and reinstalled "Blackmagic_Desktop_Video_Windows_10.3.5"

Still no joy.

It seems to me that if the inputs were working in the software 1.)All the options in the Blackmagic control panel "Audio Levels" tab would not be greyed out. and 2.)In the Win 8.1 Sound card settings under the Recording tab it would say the line in would be available. Currently it shows:

"Line in
Blackmagic Audio
Currently unavailable"

If the drivers were functioning properly wouldn't it show line in as available? In the Blackmagic control panel I have selected and applied under Set input "HDMI Video & Analog RCA Audio".

Okay well if you're using the onboard audio from the motherboard, you may want to try and update your drivers and see if that fixes the issue.

I'm working in Win 8.1 64bit on an ASUS Z87 Expert mobo

I installed RealTek Drivers for audio,
I tried disabling the onboard audio,
I've updated the BIOS on the mobo

In each case the result was always the same "Blackmagic input - currently unavailable". No success in the capture software either.

I'm not sure if this is something you're trying but reading back it could appear you're trying to capture audio only which is not possible through our products. The audio would need to sync up with the video and if there is none, it won't work.

Going back and referencing the Media Express situation, if you're seeing the audio meters moving in the software, then it would appear to be trouble on Adobes side which is who you need to contact to resolve this problem.

Tony is correct in that BMD Cards always need video for audio to function. One question through can you send your device in windows device manager is it showing as functioning or with a yellow triangle if the yellow triangle is there then you gave a problem also can you apply and make change to the board settings on BMD Desktop video

Did this thread ever find a solution to the problem? I am having exactly the same problem and cannot for the life of me get the Blackmagic Line In to become available. It is always listed as "unavailable" in the Recording tab of the "Manage Audio Devices" control. So, I can record if I use HDMI embedded audio, but never from the RCA analog inputs. And I must use the RCA inputs for much of my work.

I'm using Win-7 with Intensity Pro 4K and BM Desktop Video Utility 10.4.

HELP!!

Same problem here. No audio on RCA input. I have video signal (s-video or composite) coming in the meanwhile. Please, we need a solution. Thanks in advance.

P.S.: I'm using a BM Intensity Pro 4k running on Windows 7 HE 64bit and BMD 10.4. My mobo is an ASUS P5Q3 Deluxe.

Strange. I have no issues with RCA audio from an analog source, only if I choose HDMI with RCA audio

Strange at least! By the way, BM input line status is always shown as "Currently unavailable" under Sound-Recording Tab. It's quite frustrating. I hope it will get fixed more than soon.

James, I got an answer that works. The 10.4 version of Desktop Video doesn't work with the Intensity Pro 4K. On the direction of Blackmagic I downloaded (from the Blackmagic web support site) and installed Desktop Video version 10.3.7 and everything is working fine. Audio capture in composite and component video is works fine. Version 10.4 is screwed up. Too bad that they released a buggey version. I would have expected more ....

In what program?

I'm using 10.4, only issue I have with regards to audio is not being able to use HDMI with RCA. Analog works fine.

What I have found though is it can depend on what slot you have the card installed in on whether it works well or not. If the slot goes through the CPU then it tends to be flaky. If you have it going through the chipset then it tends to be more stable

I'm using BMD 10.4 as well. RCA icon is on but I still have no sound in conjunction with S Video and/or analog composite video input.

I have tried a different pcie slot (4x and 8x) with no success. Thanks anyway for your suggestion.

Ok, I've downgraded to Desktop Video 10.3.7 version and the audio on RCA input is magically back (strange but true, BlackMagic Input line status is still "Currently unavailable" under Windows Sound/Recording tab), even though I had to work a little harder in order to get S Video signal working. I must assume that the issue is not correlated, at least in my case, with hardware or workflow settings but it's just a Desktop Video 10.4 fault. Please, give us a more reliable and better version of this software. I know you can, I know you will. Thank you.

What is it you want it to do? The BM card doesn't function as a standard sound card so I don't think you will see any change on the audio recording tab as they are designed to be used to capture video with audio

Thanks for the explanation, Adam. But the fact remains that Desktop Video 10.4 doesn't work properly with this card and the older versions, for any other reason, are flawed too.
