Well I was told by a supplier that they were supposed to get one a month back but BMD decided to "give our allocation to someone on the blogs who kept moaning"....

I know it wasn't me, so who was it exactly? ;)

We were told the exact same thing a month ago. If anyone has been moaning loudest on here, it certainly hasn't been me.

I'm at the point to hit Red Scarlet which is much more expensive but also guaranteed for the future with s35 sensor.and 4K..

Maybe I will buy only the body first and put it in the closet to make more money so I can get the rest I will run the Scarlet with mine tvlogic monitor and side handle..so this combo reduce 2500 dollar red monitor..
Waiting and sleeping with the Scarlet body next to me is much easier then waiting on something with no limits..

Got the Scarlet and LCD plus Side Handle.
Love the LCD but I am sure you can live without it using TVLogic.
However you need the Side Handle or the REDMOTE to be able to talk to the brain.
I got used to the LCD even though I find it cumbersome.
Its been attached and havent been removed since.

ive been avoiding a long time to say something bad , but this all situation without any information from BMD , is really frustrating i stupidly enough switched to mft version (ordered in may) , now only god knows how long would i have to wait , if the cam is actually is in production or the all thing is stalled for some other reason

christine , grant or someone else from BMD : if you havent noticed this forum is filling up with very negative messaging , people including me is spending allot of money to rig and accessorize this camera (which as a company you encourage in representatives interviews ) , i think it will only be fair to expect from bmd part to release some response ,
i personally think the details on why it is delaying is less important although i thank you for sharing with us the inside details and i appreciate the honesty , but than again and i can only express my personal opinion ,i am waiting anxiously for some more realistic forecast on the actual dates of mass delivery for both EF and MFT versions , please set up new dates of delivery so we know where we stand

That's not always true they still shoot perfect movies with the analog camera's from the 50 years old..
And red is raw and 4k I believe the resolution on movie screen is 5k so you are future proof with the red.

The 3D technology doest bother me I hate 3D

Actually most of the cinemas have 2k... There is more life than 2 years for a 4k camera

I agree. I did not want to pay double what I budgeted for the BMCC, but when I realized I would have a 4k camera with overcrank, I went for it. Some people say buying a Red One is buying a used camera, which is true, but again, going back to my film camera days, cameras would be on the market for 10 years because they shot film. There wasn't anything to upgrade to. Now every year your camera is obsolete. I don't think with the economy tanking there will be a big push for 8k soon, so 4k should hold up for at least a few years if not more. To me the Red One is a heavy metal case around a state of the art MX sensor with up to date color tech.

And with the newly announced Redray, a possible indie friendly distribution technology now exists. Will it bring 4K to the masses? Hopefully, but it will take a couple of years to get mainstream acceptance.

red1 crank is really soft imo. i hate it personally. like super soft dslr.

look here we have some that is filmed with r1 and cranked.

specially girl on the logs and wake board guy in the water

4k goes out of the window in a heart beat.

clear time-lapses are stills from canon dslr shot one by one.

this was really low budget job imo.

Just an idea guys. Perhaps we should be focusing our energy at grants personal email. We all know he isn't gracing us with his presence and reading this forum. So let's go directly to him with our frustrations.
Grant.petty@blackmagicdesign.com?
Or .au?
Anyone know it? If we flood his mailbox with our complaints I imagine we will get some sort of response.
Thoughts?

While I understand your rationale, I think Grant needs as many people as possible fixing the issue with the camera rather than f'ing around fixing his email.

Besides, while his integrity in promising an update and not delivering on it is certainly in question, I'd rather mine stay in tact on the high road from email sabotage.

I understand your point but BMD isn't a one person company. Grant may have a lot on his plate but he isn't busy 24/7 for the past 20 days. I don't deny he isnt working hard but it's a simple post that would take 5 minutes out of his day and put us, his clientele, at ease....maybe.
As a small company, customer relations should be damn near #1 on their list of priorities. I expect Canon or SanDisk or Intel to have poor customer relations because they are so huge. For BMD. Not a good idea.
So that's why I think bombarding his email might get our point across. "Hey grant! Remember me? I spent a lot of money on something you have not given me. Please expend the courtesy as a paying customer to inform me on the status of the camera I paid for.
Cheers"
I, for one, will be searching for his email and emailing him. I will post it when I find it. Hope at least some of you will do the same.

Just a heads up, someone posted a BMCC for $4000.00 on reduser.net. Surprised not to see it here, but I guess he didn't need to because it sold in a millisecond.

While an update may put everyone at ease, even if it is not great news, time and time again we have seen that all an update does is change the tone of conversation on this forum for a few days. After the praise period wears off, the speculation begins and it goes downhill quickly from there.
Until this camera is being shipped in quantity, Grant and Co can't do more than buy small pockets of time without scathing criticism. Tuff place to be, but it is unfortunately by their own design so I can't feel to sorry for them. He should either have never started a forum and remained quiet until release, or he needs to be much more forthcoming with info that has been asked for unanimously. This area of random or missed updates is reflecting on people's perception of Blackmagic's integrity as a company.
I am waiting on a product from a kickstarter company going through delays with their first product right now too. Not once have I had any concern, despite having much more money on the line than with BM. Why? They promised updates every 2 weeks, have never missed an update deadline and have released video of the manufacturing process as well as all details of delays and hard numbers on all details. In other words, they are maintaining a highly transparent business model and all it has done is given me more respect and trust in what they are doing, and that my money is being used appropriately.
The negative sentiment would disappear surrounding the BMCC if They were even half as open with waiting clientele. How many customers could they save? People that are leaving either need to "settle" on a similarly priced camera, or spend a small fortune to play with similar features on something else.
My guess is that many would be more comfortable waiting with just a bit more transparency.
That's my 2 cents. Now back to editing...

No, I am referring to http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/syr ... pse-device

I am receiving a number of these units (2 for myself and the rest to sell) so the investment is sizable. But as you can see, they have 26 updates and really spell out each step of the process. I get that there is a difference between a start up in a smaller industry and the competitive world of pro/pro-sumer cameras. The fact remains, I can email these guys directly and get a response within 24 hours that answers all of my questions and then some. I know they are working hard to fix the problems they have encountered and they are showing me that they are eager for my business.

D-1....

I hope they will start shipping on this "Black-MAGIC-friday".
Uuploading a new firmware with 60fps, real display (f:Diaph; good batt info...) and good communication with all the canon lens!

So, I would believe in Santa Claus!!!

I just spoke to the lovely guys at CVP today, they are just as much in the dark as we are.

Yes, this is what Dave from CVP told me as well. At least I jumped up 19 spots in the queue (to 115 since first checking) because of cancellations though... What's your spot in line, Adrian?

19 spots is really good. I've not asked my position because I only parted with my cash 2 months ago so I would be fairly far down the queue, but closer than I was at the time of placing the order I'm sure. I'm not in so much of a rush to be fair, as long as the camera is in my hands by April, I'm good!

When did you place your order?
