Continuous recording for TV / Web Production

PostTue Dec 25, 2012 4:35 pm

Hi,
I am planning to buy the black magic cinema EF this week but have a doubt about continuous shooting.

How long can this camera shoot continuously? I can keep my SSD above 256 GB and intend to shoot on Compressed format Apple ProRes 2k video. My work will revolve around live shooting of long discussions, lectures, tutorials, and live news sometimes. i need to shoot at-least up-to 1 hr 30 minutes continuously without breaks with the battery or a power adapter. Will this camera be able to handle this long videos? or will it break it in sections like the 5dMk3 ? I tried to find on the BM site and web but no exact answer to my doubt..

Any help appreciated.
Thanks!!

Hey !!! Internal battery will last almost that amount of time!!! So better get a baterry or plug it to the wall. In a 256GB it's heard you can record upto 4 hours of ProRes (HQ). So it will fit your needs, and I don't have one but I guess since nobody has told anything it creats single files for every rec/stop. So I think you'll fulfill your expectations with this camera :D

No Problem.

The camera will record for as long as you can keep it powered and with a large enough disk.
