Hi Tony: Congrats on your receiving your BMCC!

I haven't received mine yet (pre-ordered late April from TMS) ... but in the meantime I'm looking forward to seeing what you create with your BMCC, especially if it involves keying!

Cheers!

Adam, Where were you on the Pro av list, and when did you order. I was 12th last I heard but might have moved up a bit since.

I ordered the day the camera was announced. They could only take my order the next day.

Originally I was no. 2 in the list but no. 1 pulled out. Not sure they got anymore then the one camera so far.

I expect there will be bigger shipments arriving over the next week as the Aussies all head back to work next week. Most of them have been on holiday since before Christmas so things move slowly during that period.

There is the problem, Blackmagic should have been working overtime during the holidays to get these back orders shipped, even if it means losing money in over time pay, I hope in the future (if they continue making cameras) they understand what the word loyalty means.

This is not China. People take leave to spend time with their families over Christmas. They are perfectly entitled to do so as are you.

Chill out. The cameras are coming. Nothing much happens anywhere on this planet during the last 2 weeks of December. Manufacturing slows, Shipping slows, Distribution slows.

Whining about it ain't gonna change anything.

Here in the USA many of us work during the holidays, Especially in Retail, Also many have different Religions and Holidays, "This is Not China" is why China owns us.
And where do you think the BMCC sensors come from?

And I'm not Whining, just stating the obvious,
Hard work and customer loyalty is nothing to fear.

14 days off at Christmas? Maybe for teachers but I've never had more than Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day off without taking some vacation days. Many times I've worked solid through the Holidaze when there was something very important I had committed to doing under a hard deadline.

Not trying to whip you all into a frenzy, but if blackmagic has employees willing to work through the holidays... they should have had them working is all I'm stating, The people who per-ordered from day one (not me, just ordered mine last month) deserve to get their camera ASAP, anyway many of you are defending blackmagic and I understand that, I'm not here bashing them, But when you get into the camera game you had better be prepared to deal with the likes of us, as we are demanding like no other consumer.

I just hope they know what they got themselves into

Not everyone is driven by money. Many would value time with the family much higher than a bit of extra overtime money.

Also BMCC are not in retail. They are in manufacturing. Many factories in Christian based countries close over that time of year.

Just because you work during that time does not mean everyone does.

We also don't know how many cameras have been made and shipped or how many have been ordered. I'm pretty sure this forum is just a small portion. I've seen many people asking about the camera on other forums who have never even visited this forum.

As I said, most Aussies will be back at work from tomorrow. It's Sunday here. People are in the parks or at the beaches with their families enjoying life. Work is the last thing on their mind right now.

I get all that Adam, I'm not arguing that workers don't need time off, I think you're mising my point, But that's okay, I get yours.

Cheers,
Now the holidays are over and we shall see how much longer those who per-ordered from day one
need to wait, and how Blackmagic handles mass production over the next 2-3 months.
Only then we can criticize if they lack the ability to be a contender in the Camera market they are trying to enter.

Yeah, I did. You said "here in the USA many of us work during the holidays", and I replied that many of us do not.

Sorry, but not everyone works at a waffle house or the disney store. Some people work at company's that often have mandatory vac time during the holidays.

Yea...one of the biggest companies...Christmas Day and New Year's Day are the only two official holidays. If you take more, you're cashing in your vacation time to do it.

Never mind David, I don't think you understand how business works, or know what commitment to excellence stands for, As a business owner I know that every thing I do relates to my customers period, You can justify your Holidays, Sick Days, and Any day you feel you don't want to work, But in the real world of running any business you don't have those luxury's, You do have Holidays but when a deadline or commitment is at hand you find a way to "get it done".

Whatever. I'm just a loser I guess. But I worked my butt off this year so I took a couple weeks off over the season because I could afford it.

And before I worked for myself I had 3 corporate jobs in the US (2 small companies and one biggie) and at all of them my offices were ghost towns during the holidays.

I never called you a loser, nor did I say vacation/holiday time should be taken away,
I'm simply saying when you have a company that has a new product specifically a camera that shoots RAW, you had better have your act together and do what ever it takes (before and after any manufacturing issues) to satisfy and keep customer loyalty first and formost PERIOD!!!!!!!

Why is this an argument at all? I don't get it? We are the consumer in this case, We are the ones spending our hard earned money!, Why are we even arguing?

This has nothing to do with religious holidays, Christianity or Religion in any way, it has to do with priority, loyalty, and commitment.

And I'm simply saying that it's arrogant to tell everybody how to go about their business and to suggest that your own perception of priority, loyalty and commitment is the only true God. I have no idea what happened at BMD over the last couple of weeks and neither do you. But if there has or has not been downtime it's no ones business but their own.

I only started off arguing your statement that in the US people work through the holidays thus inferring that BMD do the same in order to get you your camera. Well, that does not apply to all people in the US and suggesting that BMD work through the holidays is simply not realistic in a corporate environment.

Unless of course they have a factory in East Melbourne full of flying monkeys putting cameras together. Man, that'd be cool. :D

Anyway, the camera rules. I'm sorry you don't have one yet. But you'll get it soon enough and be happy as a pig in XXXX.

I redacted the last part myself so Christine wouldn't have to. Thats my present to her.

The fact that I have not posted footage on vimeo is simply because I am so jealous of your incredible talent. I am afraid that no matter what cat video I list, it will be made to look like complete rubbish compared to your masterpiece.

No :) but I'm done here, since you just don't get it! You are a pain & "A" typical of the brain washed DSLR Groupies who have been sucked into the marketing gimmick and so called Experts.

This has nothing to do with you (other than you purchased a BMCC)

Woah, woah.... don't get mad at me Darryl. I'm just black type on a white screen. You take all that anger and put it in your script. Show the world what you can do, Darryl. You won't have to take any crap when you win that oscar. You'll show us all for the losers we are when you're walking down the red carpet with a **** star on each arm.

I didn't blow up anything, I made a statement period, end of story.

I found it unnecessary, yes. I can understand your frustration and I want my unit just as much as the next guy (waiting 7 months since preordering for crying out loud), but I'm patient enough to realise that most businesses in Australia (and US and UK and wherever else) have some kind of lull in productivity during Christmas "break".

I found it unnecessary and insane to be honest, I was simply stating my opinion,
I never intended for a full blown "My religious" holidays are sacrilegious response,
I'm patient as well but my patients has nothing to do with what I was trying to say.
Anyway I think I'm sane in my words, but how others are reading into them is with scrutiny.
