Renting the BMCC

Here is an option for anyone who wants to try out the camera before you buy it. Borrowlenses.com has it for rent right now. http://www.borrowlenses.com/product/Bla ... ema_Camera

Doesn't seem so bad.

Where is the battery solution?

Yea seems pretty reasonable to rent for a week at 300 bucks. Don't know about a battery solution.

Lensrentals has it too:

I just received my rental of it earlier today, in fact! :D

Haven't had a chance to shoot anything yet - I had my day gig until late this afternoon and since I've gotten home I've powered it up for a couple minutes to check it out but now I'm charging the internal and external batteries.

The LR staff was super helpful - they warned me I'd need to format the drive on a Mac (or a PC with MacDrive installed), and they switched my order to a better battery solution than the one I'd selected, which didn't have a built in mount for tripods etc. It ended up being the Swintronix:

I also rented a 256gb Sandisk Extreme SSD.

The local forecast calls for clear and sunny weather this weekend in the low 70s, so I'm hoping I can shoot some awesome stuff tomorrow and Sunday. Lens-wise I've got most of the Samyang line-up (14, 24, 35, 85), several Nikon manual AIs (24 f/2, 35 f/2, 50 f/1.4), the Helios 44-2 (58 f/2) and the Jupiter-9 (85 f/2) (all adapted for Canon, of course). I'll also be testing out my anamorphics (Kowa 16H and Panasonic LA7200).

It was a spur of the moment rental so I don't have anything planned and ready to shoot, unfortunately, but we'll see how it goes.

I know these cameras are more common now, but if anyone has anything in particular you want me to test out I'll give it a shot. Can't wait til the sun comes up tomorrow!

Have you seen the latest comparison of Canon primes and Canon ciné lenses by Jonathan Yi? Suggest you check it out for inspiration on how to test lenses and call a few of your friends together to illustrate your findings! Looking forward to the results, Casey. Must be very exciting but also a challenge to go through that many lenses in a weekend. Hope you have some very good friends to help.

Rick, I hadn't seen that video but it was highly amusing

I've got no intention of going through all the lenses in any methodical fashion, I'm just looking to test the stuff I own or have access to with the camera and figure out if a purchase makes sense for me. I'm more interested in difficult to quantify things like mood and texture that result from various setups than in doing 1:1 comparisons and pixel-peeping. I'm looking forward especially to seeing how the older lenses look!
