Primatte restrictions in F8 free; new restrictions around?

PostTue Jan 26, 2016 12:35 pm

Hi there,

yesterday I opened an old F7 script with the F8 (free version) beta, recent version, and directly got an error that some functions in Primatte (which I obviously used) are restricted to the Studio-Version; e.g. the Hybrid Renderer.

It's not mentioned in the compare-page yet: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/fusion/compare (which is already adressed to F8, though)

So this leads me to the question: will it stay that way?
And: which are other restrictions we might get in F8 which aren't mentioned yet?

they've been pretty hush about Fusion 8 altogether on their hosted forum. I guess you answered one of my questions about how F8 "Lite" <-- I guess call it like it is, handles F7 comps.

Truth be told, I actually didn't want to open it in F8, I double-clicked it and F8 was picked.
It's also the first time I saw a feature was missing from F7 lite to F8 lite... I mean it's a Beta, so there's a chance that this might still simply be an error. In the first Beta, the CustomTool Node was virtually unusable (sooooo slow), and this is fine now.
IIRC, Primatte wasn't even in the first Mac Beta, no it's in there... but the Hybrid Render is clearly labeled as Studio-Feature. So is Adjust Lighting btw, and even THE CROP inside Primatte... a bit weird to me.

I mean I still like Fusion, it's not like that, you get a lot for nothing in the end. Yet I sometimes dislike how it's communicated, as you can neither find a change-log, nor info in the compare page.

Not even talking about shortcuts that get changed and pushed around, haha :)
