I love Fusion 8!

PostThu Apr 14, 2016 8:57 pm

Just wanted to say how much I love Fusion 8. I used Shake a long time ago when it was a Nothing Real product, before the dark times when Apple ruined it and destroyed it. Since then I have been making use of After Effects but I always missed the solid node based workflow of Shake.

Now that Fusion is out of beta I decided to download it and I was instantly familiar with everything in the application because of my experience with Shake. Fusion does almost everything the way I expected it to and it was like I never stopped using Shake. Now I know Fusion is much more capable today than Shake was back in the day but to me having the familiar workflow has been one of the most exciting things I have used on a computer in a long time. I don't do much in VFX anymore and do more development work these days but maybe that will change now that I can use a program like Fusion. A spark has been re-ignited in me I haven't felt since college when I majored in VFX and learned compositing from Jay Cooper at ILM.

Thank you Blackmagic Design for porting Fusion to OS X and sharing it with the world. Right now I feel like Han Solo stepping back unto the Millennium Falcon again for the first time in years. Chewie we're home.

I moved to Fusion after the Apple acquisition. Briefly tried Combustion, but was not the same. Fusion is WYSIWYG, just like Shake, so that felt really comfortable.

Don't try to keymix though. Fusion doesn't work like that. :D
