Selling Fuse scripts

PostSun Aug 21, 2016 11:29 pm

Hi everybody,

I'm working on a personal project called Spacelanders. It's a feature film. You can read more about it on the blog : blog.spacelanders.com.
I plan to use Fusion as the main compositing software. I used it for years.
I search a way to finance the project and work more time on it. So i created a Patreon page.
It's a scifi movie and i have to develop some scripts for Fusion to do some tasks. I'm new in scripting for Fusion but i already made scripts for other packages.

Here i have the idea of a script to help me in the creation of interfaces/HUD animations. I want to do it first for my movie but i think it can be useful for other graphists.

So, is it allowed to sell fuse scripts ?
It can help me finance a part of the movie.

Is there a encryption method for a fuse script ?

Thank you very much for your answer.

Not practically. You can encrypt your Fuse, but how will Fusion decrypt it?

Hi Chad,
Thank you for your answer.
Yes i understand for the encryption. In fact, i hope it will be like the maxscript language where your can make encrypted version of your script or not. I can deal with this aspect, it's not a big problem.

Do you know, if it's allowed by blackmagic design to sell fuse scripts ?

Thank you for your help.

There's no legal limitation on that, provided obvious things like you don't sell something you don't have the rights to.

Hi Chad,

Obviously.
I begin the writing of the fuse from scratch and gather informations about the Fusion's librairies and Lua on the internet and from the PDF.

I will create a wip thread on this forum about the script.

Thank again for your help, Chad.
