Paint/MultiStroke Time Offset Beginner Question

PostMon Oct 31, 2016 2:50 am

Hey all long time After Effects user trying to do more work in Fusion! Was hoping someone could help me out with the paint tool. Trying to do some time offset cloning (removing a fly from an interview and I have found the Time Offset slider, but when I change it and clone it still seems to clone the same frame. I am sure there is an easy fix, but was hoping someone might have some quick insight!

Cheers,

Nathan

Make sure you have the source tool set, although it would make sense for it to default to the current input I don't think it does and so you'll need to type the name of the input tool into the source tool field (or alt drag).

Well, to be honest there are MANY different types of paint strokes in Fusion.
I'm great in Nuke paint, but am still getting there in fusion...

I don't have fusion in front of me but one fo them brushes does default to the settings you're looking for. I can tell the paint is great, renders fast, responce. but there are WAY too many Settings on them. The paint needs to be streamlined a lot more.

Come on Fusion, think COMBUSTION. We still have not had a paint tools as great as what we found in Combustion 4.

This was totally it, thank you!! Loving getting into fusion, what it lacks in intuitive design it makes up for fully in raw power! Excited to keep learning.

Thanks again!

From my experience I never use the Multistroke.
It's always way too much work to get it to do what I want.

I always use just Stroke. It defaults on to every frame. and In the Modify tab, it lets you "Make Editable" and give you access to the Vectors.

Hi,

How do I set the source tool? It's just a type box. Do I type "Set"?

Thanks,

Nevermind. I drag from flow onto the source tool.

I've created a Half hour Class on Using Fusions Paint tools for Digital Beauty work.
Inside covers how to to access Fusion's Vector paint and how to use it for Vector paint Animation.
And a Technique that mimics Flames front Source node for clean up work.
(It's sure to make all flame artist insanely Jealous)

I also cover how to attach tracking data to your Beauty clean up work.

This is directly inspired from my class I taught at fxphd Nuk310: The Dark Art of Digital Beauty Work
