Jpg not showing just red lines

PostFri Jan 20, 2017 1:07 pm

Dear Fusion,
I am a complete novice. I am practicing on the free Fusion version. I just tried to follow a tutorial on integrating a Jpg with 4 simple tracker marks. For some reason I get red lines for the image (the image doesn't appear? Not like in the tutorial :( (Please see attachment).
Any pointer, hints or explanation would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi - I think you connected your image to the effect mask input rather than the foreground input.

And you're viewing the Loader.

The clips don't load or look like the Fusion Tutorial on the Blackmagic Site so I guess they have changed them. I get a node but no picture. Appreciate your response.

I am seeing the loader. What concerns me most and I don't understand is that my nodules don't look like the ones on the Blackmagic tutorial. I just have to assume that they have changes them. Please see screen gab. Still stuck and confused.
Thanks for your input and help.
Best, Nick

I am seeing the loader. I am adding a screen grab of what I am trying to load. It just doesn't appear in flow as a square node?
You can see top left of screen grab it says loader?

Thanks again for asking the pertinent question. I just don't see where I have gone wrong for the moment.

that your nodes look different is just a change in the GUI settings.

RMB in the flow area and choose under the "force xxx tile pictures" which nodes you want as big tiles.

i prefer no tile pictures because it saves a lot of space in the flow.

to view the result of any node you can drag the node to the viewer or select it and press "1" for the first viewer, "2" for the second and if you have more then the get more numbers.

maybe you should check on some basic tutorials and the manual about the principles of fusion?

You also have Trackers 3 and 4 swapped. The red lines are the sides of your corner-pinned image. Usually, Tracker 1 is the upper-left, Tracker 2 is the upper-right, Tracker 3 is the lower-left, and Tracker 4 is the lower-right. You can fix it without having to re-track, though. In the Operation tab, you can set up which corner is assigned to each Tracker. If you just swap the Bottom Left and Bottom Right you should have it set up correctly.

Then you need to make sure the jpeg Loader is connected to the Foreground input of the Tracker, which is the green one. The blue input is for a mask. If you forget which is which, point your mouse at the input arrow, and its name will show up in the status bar at the lower-left part of the screen. It will say something like "Tracker1:Foreground [Tracker1.Foreground]."

A BIG BIG Thank you. I understood thanks to you why the red lines were crossed as in the screen grab.I had got eh tracker number positions wrong.! Thanks again.

I also discovered in Console. That the free version I am practicing on won't let me see the image.
see Info Below.

Generation Integration is unavailable in Fusion.
Please upgrade to Fusion Studio for this and other features.
Loader1 failed to load file "/Volumes/H&S 2015 Volume 1/H&S Bottle/H&S LOGO cool-menthol-shampoo.jpg" (clip "/Volumes/H&S 2015 Volume 1/H&S Bottle/H&S LOGO cool-menthol-shampoo.jpg" at frame 0) : No such file or directory

The error "Loader1 failed..." is simply telling you that the path to the image is incorrect. If you unmounted the volume containing the file (ejected a USB thumb drive most likely), that would account for it. The Generation Integration error is something else (if you have the free version, you don't even have Generation, so there's no point in trying to connect to it).

See if you can find that jpeg in your operating system's file browser, then drag it from the browser into your Flow view. That should connect a new Loader that is configured correctly.
