Fusion 8 installation issues

PostFri Feb 10, 2017 6:16 am

I have a system,
M4A77TD ASUS motherboard,
quad core AMD Phenom II 955 processor,
12Gb of RAM,
ATI R9 280x graphics card using the 3.0 Mesa 12.0.6 driver,
3 hard drives, 2Tb, 2Tb and 1Tb
TP-Link wireless networking

This system runs 3 different environments,
Ubuntu 16.04LTS (main working environment)
CentOS 7 (Installed specifically to try Fusion 8)
Windows 7 (old environment not used anymore)

I tried installing Fusion 8 on all 3.

Ubuntu, silent crash, with crash report attached. Even after using the symbolic link fix.

CentOS, silent crash, apparently no report in /var/crash.

Windows 7, installed Fusion, software opened once, seemed to work OK, except only the fullscreen monitor seemed to work, left and right monitor windows stayed blank. Installed DaVinci Resolve, this seems to work fine, but after this, Fusion 8 ceased to work, freezing on a blank loading splash screen.

Found another thread (didn't show with my search terms, ah forum searches...) that solved the Windows issue (run as administrator). Still baffled by the Linux issues.
