would this battery work?

PostSun Mar 03, 2013 10:46 pm

i found this on ebay :

http://www.ebay.it/itm/PACCO-BATTERIA-R ... 20cef4e295

I can't find nothing about the size of the socket ( i think the BMCC socket size is 5mm, can you confirm it?).

with 3000mah would my bmcc win at least 1 more hour?

Yes it would not work :?

It will work but not realy good and long. Because the battery has only 12V when it's full!
You can't prevent this battery before deep discharge (because there isn't a controller), it's not a good idea to charge lithium cells in series (like this battery) and what happend when you give your BMCC less then 12V --> viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2147&start=20#p31907

You can use a battery with more cells. A Lithium battery with 6 cells (Ebay: lipo 6s) has arround 22 V. With a lipo warner (like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RC-Airplane-Sca ... 564d52ff25) you are good to go... Ask some one who deals with RC cars or planes ;)

Yes. You need a good charger (this charger will charge all six cells SEPERATLY with this 7-Pin-Connector). And you need to have a look at the Voltage from the battery. Because LiPo-batterys have a absolutly minimum-voltage it will damage the battery! There are some little devices you can connect on this 7-Pin-connector and they give you a signal when battery is empty...

Something like this is a cheap solution to become a lithiumcell, charger, 12v (BMCC) and 5v (3g-sdi->HDMI) in one solution.

I know what it's like to feel the price pinch when shopping for gear but I have learned over the years that the pinch of buying something that lets you down and doesn't fit your needs like you hoped hurts harder. Our game ain't cheap. The ole "You get what you pay for" rings true in this business. If you can muster the $299 then get this www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/884706-R ... k_for.html

I shot all day yesterday and it seemed like it barely took a hit. Plus it can power your accessories.

I will say this... sometimes it seems like prices on certain things do get a little extreme. I was even thinking of creating a spoof commercial for a fake rig company that was slowly rolling out their revolutionary line of rigs. You could pre-order their precision machined bolts for $699.99 a piece to start your collection of parts. ;)

@ brad12d3:

I'm a total ignorant about v-mount batteries. I used to carry with me 6 batteries for my 5d and that was enough.

So please follow me step by step.

Let's say i decide to buy the swintronix pb70 to power the bmcc and a smallhd monitor. Please tell me (give me a link of) any single part i'll need...i imagine i need a v-mount adapter too, and what else? cables? please help!

You will be happy to know that the battery mounts perfectly on the bottom of your camera as it comes. There is a v shaped plate the comes off the battery that you can mount on the bottom of your camera. That way you can attach and detach the battery with ease via this quick release system.

You can screw in a tripod plate on the bottom of the battery and Voila! your good to go. It does not come with a charging cord so you will need to get one like this: http://www.adorama.com/S7PB70C.html

I can't tell you what cable to get for it to power your monitor, it just needs to be able to plug into one of the powertap ports on the battery. If you don't know what a powertap port is,.. here is a good picture of a what it looks like... only it would be on the side of your battery. :)

$300 ain't cheap, but you won't have to worry about power again. I don't know exactly how long this battery is supposed to last, but I have been shooting a lot with it lately, going out for several hours at a time and I have never seen it get close to running out. It does add a little bulk to your camera but it's not bad and you'll get used to it pretty quick. I can take some pics of how I have it set up on my camera if it helps.

EDIT: One thing I didn't mention that I am not sure if you were aware of but there is a power cord attached to the battery that plugs into your camera. So there really aren't any additional cables you need to buy if you are going to mount it on the bottom of your camera. Just the battery and the charging cable.
