Some questions to Windows-users

PostWed Mar 06, 2013 11:59 am

Hi there,

I'm sorry if these questions have already been adressed elsewhere on the forum - so then my search wasn't really effective. But here we go:

Do Win-users still need Macdrive to format the SSDs?

What do you use to play/edit ProRes-files on your Win-machine: Apple ProRes QuickTime Decoder for Windows or libavcodec ffmpeg?

Is there anything else Windows-specific?

Has anyone had good experiences with a single-slot cheap travel SSD-dock?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Yes

If you have the most recent version of quicktime installed, you will be able to play the ProRes files in CS6, you just can't output them without installing another 3rd party plugin - I can't remember the name though - creative cow has some good resources for this

We have a USB 3.0 version with a power converter that is cross platform and works pretty well.

Thanks a lot for your help!

An incorrect point in there.

v1.2 of the camera supports exFAT formatted volumes so you don't need Macdrive, unless you want to format the SSD to HFS+ on a Windows machine.

I use exfat and format in windows. I hook my ssd to my pc and my macbook regularly without any issues.
