Sounds like your timeline is clipping all values above 1.0 due to rec709 working space.

You should render out ACES 2065-1, not ACEScg because of two reasons:
- ACEScg is not meant to be put into container, it is intended to be working space only and can cause confusion if floating around on itself;
- Resolve is unable to read in anything but ACES from exr-s (it expects every aces exr is 2065-1), so vfx must deliver ACES 2065-1 anyway. You will not get back what you give out. In vfx it means you can't check if footage is properly handled through comp because you can't do a raw difference between source and result due to different gamut.
