How do we change the timing of Fusion Titles in v15?

PostFri Apr 13, 2018 1:37 am

I dropped in a Fusion Title into the Edit timeline. I changed the text info, etc. In the properties panel, I could change everything but the timing of the text animation. Is there a way to tweak the timing of text animations in the Fusion Titles?

Thanks in advance.

Click the diamond icon next to any parameter to make it animatable. It will also set a keyframe at that point in time with the current setting of that parameter. Then whenever you change the current frame and adjust that parameter a new keyframe will be made and it will automatically animate between the two.

You can tweak the animation in the spline editor by selecting the individual parameter and manipulating its handles.

Thanks, Lance.
I'm used to Nuke, so I have to learn the Fusion workflow.

The difficulty of adjusting timing is one of my biggest gripes about Fusion. I'm probably just doing it wrong, but the way that seems obvious (spline and keyframe editor) to me is very clumsy and inefficient, but the efficient and more correct method is not at all apparent to me. So in the mean time I'll just keep scanning different tutorial videos until some reveals the missing link.

At the moment, I don't think the Fusion integration is fully optimized, yet. I was working with the splines of a lower thirds effect in the Fusion page, and play back was extremely slow. We're not talking about high resolution effects, just the animation of text. I have an iMac Pro, which can play back 8K at full fps, so this lagging effect is a little frustrating when I'm just dealing with animating text.

I don't think there's a parameter to change timing of titles to slow them down for example. So all titles disappear quickly, except for "3D lower 3rd planes rotating in" and "Lower 3rd draw on two line" which you can extend via "Change clip duration" menu.

I just tried this and I don't see a way to edit (slow down) the animation of text sliding in and out in the templates. Maybe they are just for demonstration and not for actual use? If I open the title in the Fusion Tab, I cant see any way to edit the node.

After adding the Fusion title on Edit page, you switch to the Fusion page and select the title node. Then, in the upper right corner of the interface, click on the Spline button. The right side of the Node area will have the Spline controls. Check the box of the controls you want to change (i.e. "X Offset") and the spline for those controls will appear. You can adjust the spline from there. Add and delete keyframes, etc.

You're welcome.

I can't wait until the final release of 15. I'm so glad I started using Resolve a few months ago. Resolve 15 is a total game changer.

You can also modify any of the built in Fusion Titles and change any of the nodes inside them , they are basically macros. I go through the steps in this video.

No problem. I've been trying the new Beta 3 and I am really liking the changes.
