DavinciResolve15 beta failed to start on HP Z840

Davinci Resolve 15 beta , both studio and the free version, fails to start in HP z840 with nvidia K4200 graphics card. It starts and crashes on the splash screen. No problem so far with Davinci Resolve 14.3.Is this a bug?

Which version of OS, Cuda and NVIDIA drivers?

Look like I have a similar problem on Z820. freshly installed, click icon - splashscreen - resolve unexpectedly quit-message.
I had no problems with the old free resolve, nor Fusion studio9.
It does run on my laptop though.

Nimesh, please try beta 3 and that does not help follow the suggestions from Rohit above, detail your system and provide logs.

Resolve 15beta2 runs fine on my Z840.

Running windows 10 with 2x GTX1080 if that helps.

I'm running this on my i9-7980x machine as well for grading without any problems but I'm not using Fusion at all yet.

In my case, beta3 didn't make a difference. I get to the splash screen with the message 'looking for control surface' - and then it quits...

Wondering if the OP has had more success than me...

After numerous clean/re-installs and different nvidia-drivers, I launched SimpleProgramDebugger.
And as for as I can tell (not a programmer at all), the issue may be related to audio-stuff?

Davinci Resolve crashes on the splash screen, there's now way I can capture the logs and save it to the desktop by pressing alt key and going to the help menu.

Davinci Resolve quits during the splash screen. There's no way I can capture the logs the way Rohit has suggested. I'm frustrated

Actually there is. It saves a log file in C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\logs

The file you'll want is davinci_resolve.log and it should be a text document that you can open. It should be creating that file as soon as you open it.

EDIT: Actually I wonder if that method is for storing another crash report. I always figured the log file would be the same thing. So hope this helps anyway.

I just installed beta4: it's alive!

Resolve 15 beta 4 solved the issue. Now its up and running. Thanks!
