Big Fail @ Database Connection

PostThu May 03, 2018 6:50 am

Spent last 3 hours reading forum posts/watching tutorials to find a resolution to my issue (database re-linking) but all attempts have failed big-time.

Had DR14 but uninstalled it in favor of the new DR15.

At that time, attempted to reconnect with my database (65 projects worth, about 1.2GB in size) but met with standard 'failed the connect to the database' error.

I have a main database file (.db) named 'user' and 65 others that reside in individual folders named after their specific grading project.

When searching thru windows explorer all files are intact.

When attempting to reconnect using 'new database' method of connecting to my database files, DR is not recognizing any of the .db files.

When try to reconnect by selecting various folders ('resolve projects' 'projects,' 'users,' etc,) I am again smacked with 'failed the connect to the database' error.

I thought maybe it was a DR15 compatibility issue so uninstalled it, re-installed 14 again.

Still not connecting.

A little concerned. 500+ hours of work residing in those files.

Any ideas, good people?

Massive thanks in advance.

Sounds like a disk database?

Please identify here the full path to the database from the drive its on to the project name so someone can give you guidance.
for example.
C:/users/matt/resolve databases/projects/test1

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your response.

The path to the main RS14 User.db file is:

H:SSD/RESOLVE/Resolve Projects/Users/guest/Projects/User.db

...and to one of the individual grading project folders within the main 'Projects' folder is:

H:SSD/RESOLVE/Resolve Projects/Users/guest/Projects/SCENE 49/project.db

Cheers!

Try this:

In the Project Manager window, with the Database area exposed, select New Database at the bottom.

A New Database window will open, and it will have the Connect tab selected, and it will have the database type set to Disk. This is what it needs to be.

In the Name area, enter a name that does not exist in the database list.

Click in the Selection area. That will open a File Explorer type window.

In that window, find and select the folder ABOVE the Resolve Projects folder. Using your path, that would be the H:SSD/RESOLVE folder. Then click Add.

Does that work?

Yes, Dwaine, it did work.

Thankyou!

Selecting the 'resolve' folder was the one variation I (stupidly) didn't try.

Hugely relieved and hugely thankful.

Again...thanx!
