Tweaking smart cache

PostTue May 01, 2018 2:05 pm

Hi,

Do you know if there is any solution to tweak smart cache on Resolve 14.3 ?
To be more precise, I use extensively OFX Color Space Transform which is cached by default by smart caching (Any OFX, seems to be cached by default) but on my system I got real time with this effect. I would like to avoid caching many clips I don’t need to be. So for now I’m working with manual caching and flag the one I need to be cached (mainly denoised ones). Tweaking smart cache could be useful.
So, is there is any way to specify which type of OFX have to be cached or to avoid all OFX to be cached by smart cache ? Any settings through « Preferences/System/Advanced settings » ?

Hey,

Imho you should better trigger specific caches on when you create the nodes to be cached, by choosing user cache and right-clicking on these involved nodes.
I also use this workflow. The only pain is not to forget activating node cache (on) when you create it (I personally do it just after labeling new nodes...

Hi Sam,

Thanks, for your reply, I will test and compare "node cache" and "cache clip output".
As it seems to be not possible to tweak smart cache that could be a good feature to have this possibility like for tweaking the "performance mode".
