Power windows tracking

PostSun May 06, 2018 1:13 am

Anyone having trouble with tracking? Mine is behaving very erratically.

Attached an example. It has been doing that since I updated to 15 beta.

Did you compare with tracking of the same footage in DR 14? Tracking is highly dependent on image content.

Hey, Uli. Yeah, I've been working on this show for a few months now. This behavior algo happens on any scaled footage. It seems to me that it is a really simple track. Cannot imagine it having trouble with it.
I think it has to do with the scaling of the footage. Non scaled footage do not behave like this.

Hey, Peter. Didn't really get what you meant. Here's a screenshot for context.

It looks like the tracker is unable to distinguish the necklace letters from the jumper.
If you make the PW bigger it may see the diamonds better to get some tracking points.

Could you provide more information Rafael?

If you're using proxies/caches/optimised media...
If the source resolution matches the timeline's...
If possible, could you provide a link to an exported project (DRP file) and your logs, and point us to the name of the clip where this happens? Please DM the link if that is preferable.

Thanks

The motion of the window matches the motion of the necklace, it just looks scaled up.

If you turn on highlight mode, or apply a strong correction, is it offset from the footage?

I run into situations where the window display / interface doesn’t seem to follow scaling or just becomes offset - so the area a window affects does not match the window outline.

Been common (but not consistent) for some time (v14 etc). Crop scaling mode will cause this, and sometimes copying nodes with windows to other shots will end up with windows in this state.

This seems to be my understanding. If I apply a strong correction it is offset from the footage. It is a common behavior since updating to 15 hence why I posted. It is not a problem with this particular footage but throughout all my project.
The thing is this show is shot in Epic Dragon 6K and rescaled - a lot - but I have not had this problem before on Resolve 14.

I am using smart cache set to Prores 422 HQ.
Source footage is Epic Dragon 6K.
Timeline is 1080p 23,976.

I can provide the drp but wouldn't you need the source footage also?
