Resolve Studio 14.3.0.014 Crashes: See Diagnostic Log

PostMon May 14, 2018 9:42 pm

How do I restore back to good health (i.e, how best to easily ;remedy these, with Resolve 14.3 uninstall/reinstall only as a last resort?

Resolve crashes after I right-click then select
"Move Track Up" or "..."Down" but is fine when I move a Video Track Up/Down

Resolve crashes after I selected an audio clip, right-clicked on it, and went to
Clip Attributes > Name then typed a new name in the DISPLAY NAME window, hit ENTER, then Crash!

I saved a Resolve Diagnostics Log after that last action, it's included here.
I'm on Windows 8.1 with Resolve 14.3.0.014

Let me know how to restore my Resolve installation back to a healthy order, please?
I have backed up important versions of this large project (700 clips in timeline) to a separate storage drive, in case I need to uninstall Resolve, but I'd rather not have to, if there's a way to continue editing without having to uninstall/reinstall.

May I have some guidance please? Here's the Dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bw8pjxcak0sc8 ... 0.zip?dl=0

Thanks for whatever help you offer me, as perhaps I do not need to reinstall at all?

Thanks for any help -- most especially if I do not need to reinstall Resolve 14.3 all over again...

UPDATE:
Clicking within an audio -- or even a video clip's CLIP ATTRIBUTES panel to change a parameter, then clicking OK crashes Resolve!

I'm afraid this project, with 1,046 elements in the timeline is at risk of being corrupted if I do not get Resolve's database straightened out or replaced with a clean one.

PLUS...
I suppose those bright-red audio track "strips" now in the timeline are alerting me that audio files (and their timeline clips) are missing from this imported project, and/or are incompatible with the newly created PostgreSQL Database?

Their audio clips' folder is entirely missing from the MEDIA page.

Could the cause be that the folder or its contents got corrupted when importing the project into that new PostgreSQL Database?

Am I correct that you have saved stills for all the grades, exported the project and made a backup of the database?

Have you tried save project as?
Have you tried importing the backed up database?

I did not, but had I deleted nearly all gallery stills, believing the necessary grading data is saved within the grading nodes, would I be wrong?

The grading data is saved in the project but another level of backup is to save stills as the grade for that show is also saved in the still, which can be exported and copied quite separately to the project.

Thanks for that -- and it turns out, I had indeed, *earlier* saved a copy of the .gallery stills folder in another location.

Huge THANKS to Dmitry at BMD Customer Support for the providing useful insights that got me confidently considering my options for restoring an utterly jacked up, ginormous project, (and to Peter C. for checking in, to confirm I had done due diligence in having backed up stills, project(s) and the pertinent database.

ALL of the problems have disappeared after
• starting from a several-days-old version of the project, after importing it into a new disk database (This was done just in case previous database was corrupt).
• relinking icon for corrupt media clip (and its camera-source siblings) to alternate Source Media folder containing backup copies media.
• disabled Microsoft Windows Update* and ensured WIFI Radio ...

I'm *certain* I had set Windows 8.1 x64 to "not download, but to only Inform me if a "Windblows" Update is available.

PROBABLE CAUSE:
*In retrospect, it occurred to me while speaking with Dmitry that the project instability trouble in Resolve 14.3.0.014 started when Windows 8.1 x64 attempted to "phone home" to download a Windows update -- while I had the system performing a project test render-to- hard disk.

That interruption caused a brand new G-Drive to to exhibit a scraping sound after the attempted-render crash, owing to my considering some pertinent media files were damaged.

'Hope this all serves as a heads up to other "Windoze" users here, to make sure your Wi-Fi is not enabled, thereby facilitating a possible forced OS update.
