Davinci Resolve 15 ob3

Hi there,

I updated Davinci Resolve to the 15 beta, to find out that it wont playback the sound from my clips recorded on my sony a7. Those are .mts files. I already tried rolling back all drivers, switching clisp around, reselecting the sound devices. Nothing works.

The free version of Resolve 15 won't support audio on those clips.

Will the 15 studio version support .mts files?

Is that AC3 audio? Are you using Windows 10 version 1803?

All my Sony A7 sample files are H.264 mp4 files.

How do I find out if its Ac3 audio? I just updated to the newest windows version last week.

Everything worked fine in the first release of davinci resolve 15, I never had any probles until that point.

If you select the file on the Media page, and look in the Metadata area, it will tell you the audio type.

Assuming it's AC3 audio, and assuming you've updated to Windows version 1803, that would be why your audio is not working. Windows did something in 1803 that broke our AC3 audio support.

Ok Dwaine , I have suffered with the same problem - I`m to the point to edit a feature film with Resolve 14 or 15; so as I`m layman on this technological matters, I wonder what`s going to happen if we (producers / editors) don`t restore to the previous Windows version: will we have to wait to the next Windows Update (assuming Black Magic Design will comunicate the audio issue to Microsoft) or Black Magic Design is going to solve it by itself very soon?

Peter has mentioned in another thread that we are looking to see if we can work around the Microsoft induced issue on our side. If we can, we will. If we can't, it seems like it would require a fix on the Microsoft side.

Running Mac 10.13.4 - and had several non-error crashes last night - ended up re-installing .037 and all was good again. I tried doing some Fusion 3D titles, etc and it just got sluggish - I also started getting out of memory errors on the Mac that I wasn't gettin in .037

Yes, Dwaine, I read Peter`s mention, but isn`t there a deadline to solve this issue?

Just throwing things against a wall, but for those having ac3 codec problems after 1803 upgrade (Thankfully I just set my upgrade deferral to 365 days) try opening up an admin command prompt and run the command: regsvr32 msauddecmft.dll

This re-registers the ac3 codec. I have no idea if this will help, but it's worth a shot. I issued the command on my non upgraded Windows 10 with no ill effects.

I'm game.

While the command completed successfully, it didn't restore the AC3 audio in Resolve.

And in case anyone wonders, no, today's Microsoft KB4100403 version 1803 update, also did not help.
