insert edit doesn't insert at red bar in 14.2 and 14.3

PostTue May 29, 2018 9:24 pm

Hello, I've been struggling with this issue since I first downloaded the free version in January. The most simple edit does not work...the insert edit will not insert the edit at the red bar. The clip is always inserted at the same spot on the timeline but never at the red bar. I've tried sliding the preview clip over the the program window, to the drop down menu and "Insert" and I've tried the "Insert clip F-9" next the the razor blade. The result is always the same...the clip is inserted but not at the red bar. Also, when I tried to slide the clip onto the timeline, the incoming clip overlaps the clip to the right. Any suggestions will be deeply appreciated. It has to be a stupid simple user error - I hope. My project is dead in the water and I've pulled out all the remaining hair on my head. Thank you.

Hello, Jeff,
I am curious if this has something to do with the four-point editing convention in DaVinci Resolve.

Do you have a range bar like the one pointed to by the green arrow in the screenshot

Hi Dmitry,
Yes, I do have that! The right side ends at the end of the timeline. Where the left side ends is exactly where the "Insert" inserts the clip. Sliding the range bar (on the left), its location on the timeline is where the clip is inserted. Looks like this may be the culprit. Fantastic detective work! Thank you. But what is the range bar and can it be deleted? I right clicked on it but it only references markers.

Bingo! Thank you, Dmitri and Peter. While I have you guys, here's another one...I recorded only two tracks of audio on an F-55 SXS cards. But when imported into the system the clip attributes always shows 8 tracks of audio. It's not a critical issue, but it's annoying as heck and there must be something I'm doing wrong. Any ideas? Thanks again for saving my sanity.

Time to start reading the manual.. these are fairly fundamental items. for audio tracks, look in clip attributes... the 55 makes 8 tracks so u can select which you use
