Fusion: Missing Viewer buttons

PostWed Apr 25, 2018 4:07 am

Show/Hide Controls is fairly important, particularly for new users who aren't aware of the Ctrl+K hotkey.

Domain of Definition (DoD) is useful for troubleshooting and optimizing a composite. Getting to it through the context menu is cumbersome.

I use the Normalize button frequently for quickly viewing some auxiliary buffers—Z and World Position almost always have values outside the 0-1 range. Also for checking detail in super-white areas.

Pixel Aspect Ratio correction and Smooth Resize might be okay to leave in the context menu. I do toggle Smooth Resize frequently, though.

I also miss the seldom-used pop-up button for choosing the active control widget. But since I might be the only person who even noticed it was there, I can see why it wasn't a big priority to keep. ;)

Could we get back the feature where clicking the name of the displayed tool above the Viewer selects it? The widget's already there; might as well make it functional.

As mentioned in another thread, the Light and Shadow buttons for the 3d Viewer should also be exposed. At the very least, perhaps they should default to On.

Nope, I use this quite a bit too. Pain in the ass to track down widgets in nodes that aren't in your immediate Flow area without this tool...Generally I want most of those buttons back.

I'd also really, really like to have some of the overlays like the gamma / gain slider on their own button instead of buried under a ... menu, really annoying having to add an extra click for something I use so much.

ALSO also, something I haven't found but I assume I've just missed and didn't see a mention in the manual, but where are the Fusion playback quality settings in DR15? I.e. HQ/MB/Proxy/etc.

Right-click in the center bar near the transport controls.

Those are also important buttons that should not be hidden in a context menu.

Yeah I honestly vote for bringing back most or all of the Fusion interface as it was. The new Resolve style skin looks nice but functionality feels really stunted. And really hate where the timeline is.

Have also noticed while trying to do a few composites that the sliders are really difficult to work with vs standalone Fusion.

Also missing is Custom Scale for the Viewer, which is in the pop-up Viewer scale menu in Fusion 9.

I think the custom selection is deprecated in favor of a simple 'ctl + scroll' on the viewer whereby the user selected zoom % is shown.
