Audio Mixer - ALTERNATIVE to SRC 2496

PostMon Sep 10, 2012 4:44 am

Ok, So I bought a used DEQ2496 from guitar center and it was a flat out bust. - You can't even find an SRC 2496 to be heard of in the united states, at least until the end of Oct , 2012 - the ship date from most stores.

The bad news for me was that the DEQ 2496 did not work, it is a bad unit. and I am conveniently 8 days past my return date. - So I am out that money.

Well - it seems like a feasible work around to just tap my mixing board into the xlr inputs from my camera, to run the audio to where I need it to go. - I need to route to the SDI to Analog converter I have, I need to run to the HDMI to my Atomos Ninja, and then record to the Media Express. - So far, I do not see any delay. -

That is weird. - I expected a delay. - Since I shelled out all the money up front to buy these lip sync devices, but now they don't seem to be needed.

Does anyone else have any experience with this?

The only pain I have is in my Atem 1/ME where they stripped me of my 60 hz privileges. - I have less than one week left before I need this update. - ug... so depressed. I need some medication. - However, I think I will complain every change I get.

oh back on topic - my Audio Mixer will not work there, but on the TVS, maybe do not need the AES/EBU and can survive with the 2 xlr inputs from an SDI input??? Any thoughts?

Thank you for this great community of fellow ATEM users. - I rely on your genius and input.

Are you saying that it is out of warranty? Behringer recently has been far more responsive on repairs, with the neb x32 mixer really depending on support.
I had a problem with one of mine (deq2496) and they fixed it, they have a new service center in Las Vegas

Are you saying you have a TVS as well as a 1ME? I have both too. Oddly the 3.2 firmware update (didn't bother with 3.3.) did not mess up any of my 60Hz gear (Scalers / Apple TV etc). My 1ME... yep... that's screwed as far as 60Hz. However... my TVS is now acting as my fancy little frame re-sync. I can plug any of my 60Hz gear in to that... and then take program out over to the 1ME.

I am running in 720p5994. Not tested using 1080i5994.

Got lost someone along the way with your XLR over SDI comment. What exactly are you asking?

XLR in to your Camera.... Camera to SDI in to ATEM... therefore you have the audio available anyway (not delayed though). That should work (if that's what you were asking).
