15b4 crash exemple

PostThu Jun 07, 2018 10:13 am

Hey,
New project (test on a vertical HD for a city ad). A few PNGs imported...
1st quit after a few seconds on the Edit page, 2nd one after I tried to drag a png on the TL.
2 logs attached.
It was on Sierra, 15beta4 studio.

(I don't have the guts to install on my main ElCap, even more because no Fusion standalone - 8 or 9, studio or not - won't launch anymore on my Sierra since Resolve 15 beta is installed on it
 )

Ok, it seems that the issue came from the "see individual frames" option not selected in the media pool area; then a supposed single png was actuually 22 ones put on the TL.
However, regardless to the fact I don't personally like the way we must opt for this (and the fact it should be the default option imho), a sudden quit could maybe be avoided if a message or another way to prevent that is implemented.

Jus for background, historically and for most Hollywood level films, dpx or exr individual frames are used. 100,000's of them per film.. they definitely want these auto packaged as clips when there is sequential frame numbers. Same for CinemaDNG that the BMD cameras make.

Your crash is another issue we need to solve.

Peter, I'm aware of that, I'm used to grade dpx too and don't deny it's wiiiiiiidely used around the world. My specific opinion is that the way you select "view individual frames" - clicking the 3 dots particularly hidden here - is not very handy imho...
And yes, still imho, I still think it may be defaulted to see individual frames AND that the option to see a sequence might be chosen in the project settings instead, or somewhere which would be more obvious. But let's not waste time with that, it was only an personal opinion I wanted to share about the GUI : thank you very much for your answer anyway.

Yes indeed, the crash is the main topic I wanted to share with you.
