I'm agree with this fact! To create easily sub-versions.

Hi,

I was wondering if this was resolved? I couldn't find a hotkey to duplicate timelines. When I go into Preferences to add a shortcut I couldn't find the option to add a hotkey. I can right-click and then pick Timelines to make a duplicate. That is more steps than I want to create.

Thanks,
Jason

So we can understand the need, how many times an hour you duplicate a timeline?
What are you working on with these dups

I probably dupe timelines about 10 times a day. Sometimes to create an alternate version, sometimes to create a quick backup.

Also I usually have a template sequence with a slate, and mono/stereo tracks & routing as required that I'll dupe as my new sequence.

Hi Peter,

I like to duplicate for nearly every project. I use this technique for versions. I save one edit. Then I save an alt edit. Sometimes projects require a sync timeline for all the cameras for global reference. One project I had 14 versions. It's useful to go back and use past sequences or compare versions.

Thanks,
Jason

I just did this all day on a promo, and it's not that big a deal for me just to right-click and select "Duplicate Timeline." And I think I wound up with 11 or 12 variations of a promo.

I can think of a lot more shortcuts that are better needed: for example, select a still in the gallery and immediately apply that grade... without clicking. Same thing with the Lightbox. I think that's a much more useful feature.

Hey Peter :)

there is a multitude of needs for duped timelines.

In the Editorial stage they can be:

1. A way to keep versions of your work up-to-a-point without having to relay on auto-save or full project exports. Its common for an editor to duplicate the timeline at the end (or even middle) of the shift and add a date/version number to the name.
2. A way to branch out an edit. when building a story, whether narrative or non, it is common to rethink your way and test an alternative approach.
3. A general mean of organization with different bins that may need to contain same timelines
4. A way to split a timeline to 2 or 3 "thinner" ones containing only B-roll, Graphics, Different source FPS and such for different needs...
5. Etc'

In the On-Line/Color stage and especially in Broadcast work there are also many uses to duplicate timelines
especially to divide different stages of my work

Even when I teach Resolve I find myself going to that sub-menu option far too often.

Would definitely be very useful to have a programmable shortcut.

I'd like to also request this.

We have four staff who spend all day duplicating timelines, they have to segment reels and so for each reel they might do 5-20 timeline duplications. It gets very tedious, they would do this duplication step 4 times or so an hour, for 7 hours a day.
A hotkey/shortcut would be very welcome here.

Keyboard Customisation > Media Pool > Duplicate Item

Ensure that "All Commands" is selected in the "Commands" portion of the window.

Another one should be: save current frame as JPG or PNG or TIFF
- I7-7700K@4,7GHz, 32GB@3600MHz, Intel HD630 + Geforce RTX2070 8GB, 960Evo 1TB(M.2)
- Sony RX100M4, RX10M3, mini4pro (UHDp60)
- Win 10 Pro latest patch
- Resolve 19.1.3 (Studio)
cheers, Andi
