How do I purchase and not need a dongle

PostSun Jun 24, 2018 2:53 pm

Is it possible to purchase Resolve 15 and not use a dongle? I am having difficulty figuring out if it's possible or not?

Thanks in advance...

Resolve 15 is still in Beta testing. So it is not possible to buy it now.
I ordered Resolve 14 Studio without Dongle and got a small card with the keycode. The update to Resolve 15 Studio shall be free, when Resolve 15 will be released.

Thanks for the information. Is this something that I can order online and get the activation code online as well or do I have to wait for a shipment in the mail? I am abroad and would love to activate today if possible...

Whether dongle or activation code, it will arrive via smail mail. No choice here.

The free version can simply be downloaded and installed.

But you can have it mailed to a person you trust and get the code from him/her over secure connection…

Ya inconvenient in this day in age, but for Resolve I won’t complain. It’s the best NLE I have used.

Yes, quite a few people find this inconvenient. Neither do I understand the reasoning behind this procedure.

Yeah, it's a bit of a pain when you have a deadline :-/

I ordered and paid for the studio version of Fusion a week ago (through a dealer here in NZ) and the order still hasn't shipped. To be fair, the dealer's website does say "ships in 7-10 days" so I'm not grumbling, I guess they indent from the USA on order and then ship it when it arrives.

Still, it's "so 20th century" for a 2018 product :-)

If you are on the Mac and are ok with the limitations imposed by the app store version (it has a few restrictions compared to buying from BMD directly) then you could buy on the app store and it would be licensed immediately without needing a code; however, this will probably only give you 14: as there is no code, I don't believe you can unlock the beta of 15 using the app store version.

I would assume it will update to 15 using the app store once it is out of beta, but someone from BMD would need to confirm that.

Wouldn't it be coming from Australia?
