WAV files exported from Resolve don't open in Compressor

PostWed Jun 27, 2018 9:41 pm

Resolve Studio 15 beta 5. I exported some 5.1 audio tracks (separate L R C LFE Ls Rs files) from Resolve and tried to create a surround group with them to export an ac3 file. Compressor gives an error every time. I tried both 16 bit and 24 bit WAV files. Rendering the audio as MOV files with no video track works. Reconverting the same WAV files in Adobe Media Encoder does not work either, as Compressor loads the files, but fails to encode anything with them.

The error Compressor gives when trying load the WAV files from Resolve is "Error trying to open source media file."

When trying to render the ac3 file using the Resolve WAV files converted in Media Encoder, the render fails with this error:

Failed: 3x *** [AVAssetReaderAudioMixOutput
initWithAudioTracks:audioSettings:] invalid parameter not
satisfying: [audioTracks count] >= 1

Is there a difference if you render a single file with six mono tracks vs. a single file with a single track containing six channels?

You can't add a 6 channel file to a Compressor Surround Group and select which channel to use, so it's not even worth trying. They have to be mono files.

That said, I google searched the issue and came up with some other instances of the issue recently. It may be an issue/bug with the latest Compressor version as some have gone back to an older version and it worked fine.

I have no difficulties opening and transcoding a WAV file out of DR 15b5 with Compressor 4.4.1 under High Sierra 10.13.5. It works both into AC3 and AAC. What could be different in your file?

I tried 24 and 16 bit, both in Linear PCM and IEEE float. No problem.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Another method is to use iDealshare VideoGo to compress WAV, FLAC etc.

Return to DaVinci Resolve
