Increasing volume (speaking)?

For some of my VLOG videos, I've noticed that my voice levels are a bit low. I'm using a gopro + videomicro condenser mic, but I guess I still just talk a bit soft sometimes

Traditionally, what I'll do is just increase the clip volume on the timeline. Is there anything else I should consider to increase the volume / perhaps increase + improve the clarity of speaking voice (sometimes bumping the volume makes BG sounds like waterfalls/rivers more noticeably intrusive)

Edit tab / Fairlight Tab:
You can try using Normalize Audio Level -6db

Always edit tab:
Effect library:
AudioFX => Voice Channel that you put on the track header

Better: Fairlight page:
Call AudioFX => Voice Channel on Track audio or in mixer (input A1)
and or
Equalizer 5 bands (for water) on A1

A lot of it boils down to:

1) mic position
2) mic technique (how close or how far away you are from the microphone)
3) mic quality (you'll tend to sound a lot different on a $50 mic than you will a $2000 mic)
and 4) room acoustics (including background noise)

It can help to use some mild compression to help keep the volume levels consistent, but any voice-over artist has to learn the basic techniques to keep their narration interesting and also fulfilling the basic technical requirements of level and intelligibility.
