14.3.1 - Scopes and performance

PostMon Jul 09, 2018 9:03 pm

Just updated to 14.3.1 and ran some tests on realtime and scopes, link to releases notes
"Addressed an issue with playback performance when using a video monitoring device with scopes enabled" :
- with the 14.3 with scope enabled I got realtime with XAVC UHD 25p (source and project settings) while activating « minimum interface updates during playback »  (the scopes doesn’t update anymore while playing)
- FYI 1 : working on UHD 25p with « minimum interface updates during playback » deactivated, the scopes are updating while playing and I lose realtime playing.
- FYI 2 : working on HD (project on HD, source on XAVC UHD 25p) the setting « minimum interface updates during playback » doesn’t change the behaviour of the scopes, I got realtime playing with any settings and the scopes are updating while playing with both settings.
- with 14.3.1 with scope enabled I don’t have realtime with XAVC UHD 25p while activating « minimum inteface updates during playback » (the scopes continue to update while playing, this look to cause Resolve slowing down)

Any ideas ?
In the result for now I stay on 14.3

Best,
Christophe

If you've got a Supermicro workstation and dual Titan X's, I'd say you can afford external scopes. If you do this, this will lighten the CPU load and allow the computer itself to run a little bit faster. There are also other advantages of external scopes in that you have the ability to configure them very specifically for your project needs.

Scopebox is one affordable solution out there:

BMD also has the UltraScope, so that's another direction you can go.

And let me say that's a HELLUVA system -- I envy you your choice of hardware.
