I've been trying to add a simple blur to text nodes, but it appears to be quite a challenge in Resolve. I've tried creating a compound clip out of the text node to use the Color blur feature, but that blur does not add enough blur. Anybody who has used Premiere's Gaussian Blur FX knows what I'm trying to achieve. Premiere's blur FX enables you to completely blur out anything and animate cinematic title blurs really smoothly. That's what I'm trying to do in Resolve.
The only way I can see doing it natively in Resolve is with a text+ node, but that creates another issue: Text+ nodes are extremely slow in the interface. They freeze the entire program for up to 5 seconds whenever I click on them or try to move them in the timeline.
It appears the text+ nodes are invoking the Fusion engine whenever they're selected because working with text+ nodes feels just like clicking on the Fusion tab. I understand the integration between Fusion and Resolve is still evolving; so, the freezing is relatively tolerable if I'm working on a substantial comp in the Fusion tab for a while, but freezing every time I want to edit a simple text+ node or move it around the timeline makes the whole experience really frustrating because text is such a frequent part of every project.
So, two questions:
Is there an efficient way to achieve a smooth, substantial text blur like we can achieve with Premiere without a 3rd-party plugin?
Is there a way to eliminate the freezing when moving Fusion clips (and especially text+ nodes) around the timeline?
Thank you for your help.
