Studio 15 Installation Issue

PostTue Aug 14, 2018 12:18 pm

Installed v15 Studio Version and get this error when trying to start the software. I have attached a screen shot of the error in addition to my system parameters. Thanks for any help.

Someone is sure to tell you that Win7 is not supported, but before you despair, I think that GPU needs "AMD Catalyst" video drivers (whatever they are), to work with Resolve. Is that what you have installed? If you have access to a gtx card, you might want to try it.

No GTX card to try. V14 was running just fine. 15 Beta worked with some bugs so I rolled back to 14 until 15 was off beta. Tried to install over 14 like last time. This time, disaster.

Hi.

Suggest you try to Google 'Qt5Gui.dll'

A simple google gave this two answers:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... 3b0?auth=1

https://fix4dll.com/qt5gui_dll

Regards Carsten.

It is possible to get random Qt dll error messages due to various reasons, it is possible that something else drives Resolve nuts here (drivers etc as others have suggested). The pointed dll itself probably is fine in installer (it is not missing, at worst it has become corrupt on install), otherwise others would have the same problem. You can try reinstalling Resolve also.

Qt5Gui.dll contains the gui related functionality (drawing and widgets) of Qt toolkit version 5, you could try replacing it by downloading the Qt toolkit but you would also need to know which Qt version is used, there are many .x versions of Qt5, up to 5.9 I think currently. You can download the toolkit for free though.

We don't support Windows 7. That error is typical of people using Resolve 14/15 on Windows 7.

That's not to say that it absolutely won't run on Win7, as it seems to work for some people. But very likely Windows 10 fixes the issue.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did a thorough registry cleanout for "Blackmagic". I was then able to install 15 (registered version) on a Win7 system. Albeit, I am heeding the warning about Win 7 and currently now looking to put together a Core I9 system with acceptable accoutrements.
