iPhone codec compatibility?

PostMon Aug 20, 2018 9:08 pm

I have media from both a DSLR and my iPhone. I took a short clip this morning on my iphone 7plus and Resolve 15.0.0.086 shows the media as "Media Offline". I can see the clip and edit it using iPhone apps and it plays normally on my PC using VLC. DSLR clips are importing normally.

I had this problem with iPhone clips before moving from 14.x to 15 beta. Now the same issue seems to be back.

VLC reports the codec as follows:
MPEG-H Part2/HEVC (H.265) (hvc1)
Video Res: 1920x1080
Frame rate: 57.302788

Here's a link to the little clip https://1drv.ms/v/s!An_3r5i7D8DGlLxBtELGZaqDucwQlQ

I'm less than a year into learning video editing and Resolve is my first full fledged NLE so apologies if this is off topic!

Best,
Dan

Do you have the Studio version? I think the free version can only decode these on the Mac.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

No - I use the free version as a beginner. I had no issues importing these before upgrading to 15.x stable a couple days ago. I recently did a clean install of Windows 10 on this machine and did not install iTunes or Quicktime initially. Based upon your thought, I installed Quicktime, rebooted & still had no luck.

Any other recommendations? It seems like a ton of free users will be using iPhone video!
