Auto Select Clips under playhead?

I'm scrubbing through a bunch of captured clips from old film (mostly 8mm). I have the frame pretty wide to see as much image on the film as possible. This means that I get to see the slight framing differences between cameras used.

I'm using scene detection, which works great once I clean up the dirty splices that causes multiple transition. I play through the clips and adjust the Position Y to line up with the framing of the specific camera.

It would be great to be able to auto select the clip under the play head. Is there any mode to turn on or key I can hit to do this? I have a couple hours of clips to go through over the next month or two and trying to optimize my workflow.

Timeline menu > Selection Follows Playhead
