Is anybody having luck exporting video with embedded captions (CEA-608 or 708)?
All of our content requires embedded 608 or 708 closed captions. All of our produced content goes out to a captioning service and we lay back .scc captions embedded on output. We currently are using Premiere Pro successfully for this task, but have been evaluating Resolve for an alternative workflow option.
Unfortunately, we're dead in the water so far with Resolve, as it consistently fails when attempting to export embedded .srt or .webvtt captions, displaying the error, "Recording failed with Error : Subtitle is too long." To be clear, the files tested work fine on export with Premiere. I ran the test files through subtitle edit to ensure format compliance, so there's no problem there.
If I manually create the exact same subtitles within Resolve, they export fine as embedded 608 captions. Imported caption files fail. Based on the volume of content we deliver, manual creation of subtitles is not an option. I can export embedded captions as timed text, but we have to transcode to many different formats downstream, and our transcoder requires 608 or 708 captions.
I found one thread in this forum with a user having a similar problem, but it died with no response or apparent solution.
Any ideas? I love Resolve, but can't see us working it into my company's workflow without working embedded captions.
