I think you get a email that says “processing” when you place the order. Once it has been processed, and no stock is available for immediate shipping, it goes to “backordered”, showing it is on order with the supplier, and your order with B&H is waiting for stock to arrive to fill the order. Remember, B&H is a large outfit, with retail store, mail order and shipping departments that are all at different locations.
